Soni can't guard them all. I'd put her on Rivers who is really good --- wouldn't stop her but any bringing down her facilitation would be helpful. Then I'd tell Hannah to wake up and get after one of the other two. Olivia can't check anybody, so maybe King or go small ball with Prosper for the final guard. Offensively, get King the ball mid post and let her short shot and drive.

overtime now thanks to amazing last second bucket by Citron but don't feel confident in winning as we can't stop Brooks and the other wolfpack guards from making shots and plus the wolfpack just can't miss FTs today

This game demonstrates one of our biggest (and unexpected) flaws --- despite the out-of-world skills of Hannah and Olivia, neither is really hard-wired with Cold Mental Intelligence (probably the result of not having to be.) Both of them have made multiple dumb plays in the clutch in this game. If we can just blitz people with talent, no one can beat us. If it's a grind and we need intelligence, it's a gamble.

Another dumb panic play by Miles at 3.4 seconds. Basketball gods will probably not smile with this much screwing up.

It’s frustrating how disorganized and rattled we’ve have looked here the past few minutes. For as much talent we have, it shouldn’t look this ugly

A collection of elite talent, but still not an elite team. Elite teams overcome a bad shooting game or hot shooting game from an opponent. And March is approaching quickly.

Elite teams also overcome officiating, so this isn't an excuse, but coach still needs to say something about the calls/lack of calls. The officiating was that bad.

Game costs us a shot at the #1 seed, and probably Hannah's chances at player of the year.

A lot of lessons can be learned from this one. Better to have it now then in the tournament.
Offense needs to be better. More ball movement, more sets - too many empty possessions with 1 pass and shoot. Ball needs to cycle more thru Maddy and Sonia on every possession.

Terrible shot at end of 2nd OT. That’s the best we can come up with? Fade-away 3 from the corner?

Defensively not good either. Hannah with ole’ defense on Brooks way too many times. You don’t think your AAU teammate knows your trick of letting you get by then poking at ball? Just stay in front and make them pull up and hit.
I sure hope this film is studied and adjustments are made.

today's loss basically boils down to we didn't play championship defense but that is part due to the wolfpack having some elite talent at the guard spots but we still win conference title if we win these last two games and plus if both teams play to there potential in a couple of weeks in the ACC tournament then we'll have a good shot at a rematch in the semifinals or championship game

We always knew the we don't play championship defense --- Miles and Westbeld are terrible at it. Citron and King (and Prosper when she's in) have the everyplay-on-the-job defenders attitude. With Hannah, when motivated (internally apparently) she is the ultimate menace. But opponents scout, and know to leave Hannah alone (translation: get another ball-handler), and pick on the two weak links. Rivers, by the way, is EXTREMELY basketball smart and cool.

Ivey tried at times this game to cover the holes by using a 1-2-2 type match-up zone with Soni at the top (since she can't trust anyone else (except Prosper) to do it. Still, Westbeld's "little girl soft play" killed that inside, and Miles' sort-of-paying attention left the middle open. Ivey also tried mightily to get Miles off the defensive court by O/D substitution late in regulation, but you can only do that with luck.

This team will win against almost anybody on sheer "WOW" factor, but there will be games where the opponent has smarter people than you and makes 20 straight free throws. Then --- you still might win, but ....

As to NCAA --- my opinion: we're still a one seed, easily. This was a very good opponent AT THEIR HOME. Double overtime.

I think you're overrating how much the voters pay attention. One bad game will be easy to erase. They don't look that closely at games. For instance, her reputation is that she is a great defender. They won't say "but what about that 2OT stinker vs NCSt".
As far as the top 4 seeds go, win the conference and we're in.

ND looked fatigued during the 2nd OT, even though NC St. won, I think the better team lost, and it took NC St. 2 OT's to beat ND.

Not a bad loss in my opinion.

I just got Final Four tickets. I’ll have 2 elated teenagers if the Irish can pull this thing off and make it to Tampa!

I didn't get to watch the game yesterday but it looks like the defense let us down. I'd rather be exposed on flaws now so we have the chance to make improvements now. We no longer have the ability to be the top overall seed but hopefully we can still be able to be the #2 or #3 1 seed. I do want to be the #4 1 seed and matched up with UCONN.

i did watch and even though we lost we did it on the road against a pretty good wolfpack squad and even then it took them two overtimes and the irish playing only there C game for them to win

Up 15 in the 2nd quarter and then just get completely outplayed the rest of the way. They looked lost out there tonight

Bad loss at home. A lot of seeding issues just cropped up. FSU’s defense really made us look bad and they aren’t known for their defense

sooooooo pissed off with this team right now because they had the conference title won and a #1 seed locked up just by winning these last three games on the schedule but now they decide to throw both away by forgetting how to play defense and rebound these last two games

Rough. Better now than in the NCAAT. Time to figure it out ladies.

Heat check for Olivia Miles after the Angel Reese hangout sesh (0-2 since). Maybe I’m just bitter, but not the company I’d want to keep if I were on my way to the WNBA. Too much of a “me” girl.
