All that money saved on the defense budget should be put back in to make sure we have the #1 military in the world
I think you can have that without putting it all back, but we should spend what it takes to stay #1.

A lot of it goes into the minutiae of how the money that was actually appropriated from Congress. The actual managers of those programs generally has a great deal of authority to how that money actually gets executed when the budget is passed. I am unaware if the budget specifically set aside $XX,XXXK dollars to fund a transgender opera, or if it is in a larger American cultural outreach program where the bureaucrat has the say in what it actually gets spent on. As an example, if $200M dollars is set aside for the RDT&E of a new class of submarine, the actual program manager determines if $5M needs to go to research new anechoic tiles, or when the fiscal year actually hits whether that money needs to go to configure the new sonar design. If it is appropriated in that case, then it is well within the purview of the executive branch to turn off those specific programs.
Here’s a list of federal laws that the Dogey Boys likely have already violated:

18 USC, 1505, 1519, 2071 Federal Records Act

USC, 552, the E-Government Act of 2002, the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act

the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act, 18 USC, 208, 18 USC, 205

Irregardless of where one stands politically it’s straight up crazy that a group of 19 - 25 year olds who were obviously not vetted at all were given administrator access to federal databases with little to no oversight and apparently rewrote some of the underlying code.

That’s fucking crazy.

We're fresh off the same age idealogues running the policy for the WH for 4 years with a demented POTUS. Enjoy the ride.

Yeah. I think this administration is picking these fights in the hopes that the Supreme Court will rubber stamp some of the positions they’ve staked out.

Will be interesting to see how that plays out considering how full shit some of the conservative justices have proven themselves to to be in regards to originalism, federalism and not “legislating from the bench”.

Or they don't want to spend money on bullshit and it's irrelevant to your make-believe take on the SCOTUS.

I think a ton of money could be saved by getting rid of the "use or lose" funding model.
Is that how most Federal programs work?

The local agencies I’ve worked at allow you to carry funds forward as long as they are part of a larger capital project plan.

I will say that applying for federal grants is a total pain in the ass and if you’re not getting more than 2 mill or so for a capital project it’s almost not even worth it.

Uh no.

If you listen to certain right wing intellectuals what I stated is exactly what they are saying.

Not sure but it was a thing when I worked for DoD. Guys come up with the dumbest shit to buy at fiscal year end to keep their commander happy.

Maybe it has to do with discretionary funding from a general fund. Huh

The craziest thing about all this Musk being a “special government employee” bullshit is that the Chinese government could put Tesla out of business tomorrow if they felt so inclined.

Didn't they try to impeach Trump for holding back funds after he requested info about Hunter Biden's Ukrainian business hijinks? Maybe I'm getting my impeachments mixed up. Seems the situations are a bit similar...I'm sure someone will correct me. Trump's intentions were probably evil cause he was looking for dirt, while Biden was just trying to protect his poor, misguided son.

This guy lies constantly on twitter. Why would anyone take anything he posts seriously at this point?
So, yes or no, did China gain access to Treasury Department workstations late last year or not?

Yes or no, did Democrats show significantly less concern about that than they are to the President's appointees accessing that same data?

Oh hell if I know. Government procurement is a mess. They dropped a new contract writing software on half the base without making sure it worked. Borrowed or bought it from the Dept of Agriculture. Went weeks without being able to write contracts or do modifications. I left for law school shortly thereafter but my friends said it did get ironed out eventually, my unit was not one of those that switched because we bought cool stuff

Government is more inept than what we are told. It's truly insane. I was at the base for FOUR MONTHS without computer access. Turns out the unit who hired me didn't know I was there! Although I showed up on the day they told me to and went to the people they told me to.

There is absolutely a metric fuck ton of waste in the military. I think getting rid of the "use or lose" would build a better culture and also...get rid of some of the stupid rules about procurement. I had to fight for months to buy a stupid mini paver because it was not American made. It was Italian. Zero American companies made a similar device.

Ok sure.

Beats me.

I would imagine that because the Chinese government is like a foreign adversary them engaging in illegal activity is kind of expected as opposed to a bunch of non vetted tech bros from the US lead by the worlds richest man who just happens to have significant business dealings with China engaging in said illegal activity.

Pretty sure that’s what makes China doing it a quite a bit less outrageous.

I’m all for auditing military spending and slashing the budget significantly.

I can empathize on that front. The special district I currently work at requires going before the board of directors for anything over 50k. That is straight crazy town. Lol.

Because he reaffirmed my previously held beliefs. I also really like the nifty graphics that don’t source anything. I don’t know, I’m just a simple man who don’t like too think to much. I think HunterBidensCrackPipe1488 is just an honest broker like Cronkite.
