Hell of year…We will be back. I think Marcus and his staff will learn a lot from this. Injuries are a hard thing to overcome when playing against a team with that kind of talent. On to Miami and Go Irish!!

Proud of the kids for the fight that they showed tonight. The first drive was an absolute clinic in physical football. I think Leonard was injured after the first drive, and he gutted it out. Jaden Greathouse has begun his star turn. The offensive line overall held up, and Mitchell Evans has regained his explosiveness and confidence.

That being said, I don't think that the coaching staff had a great night. Golden was outschemed by Kelly for most of the night, and Denbrock forgot about the running game to anyone aside from Leonard. I think that it would have helped on the drive that ended with the missed field goal. Freeman also made a poor decision to go with the fake punt - yes, the play was there and should have been converted, but I would prefer going with the first team offense to get the conversion there rather than the backup QB cold off the bench.

All that aside, this was an absolutely magical season, and I think things are looking like they will be really exciting for Notre Dame football. I hurt a lot for the Howard Cross's, the Jack Kiser's, the Xavier Watts's and the Rylie Mills's who gave so much to this program and didn't get the payoff of a national championship.

This game was lost in the game planning session. To go into the game and play not to lose was wrong. You know they have more weapons than any team we faced and you going with the mindset to not be more aggressive against their DB’s that have struggled was a terrible decision.

Again. 6 potential starters down, against the best roster money can buy and there are people literally pissed at the outcome? For the love of almighty this was the start of Freeman and the culmination of Day and it was much closer than it should have been. Crack a beer and smile. The future is glorious.

I personally believe we have to get a quarterback similar to Leonard every year in order to compete for a championship. I don’t think we are gonna be successful with a guy that can’t make a lot of plays with his legs and also be able push through an OL on 3rd and 3. We don’t pass protect enough for an easy to tackle QB.

Some of you guys need some perspective. Gray literally got us to this game with heroics against Penn State.

The only thing you can question is Al Golden going to a style of defense that Ohio State probably expected and also isn’t what Notre Dame does… and I honestly don’t know if blitz happy man coverage would’ve ended any better.
Yes, I will question Al Golden doing exactly what Ohio State wanted him to do on that third and eleven, since they ran a go route with the the best player in college football and it was obvious Howard only had eyes for Smith on that play.

There was literally not a single way to call that third down play worse on defense, and Golden completely blew it.

Good riddance, and enjoy Cincinnati.
I’ll be hate watching CBS for the next few years after that final performance

Leonard balled out too. His final touchdown pass was perfect and he gave up everything he had from the first drive.
I didn’t mean to put RL down just that Howard played better than any of the other QBs we faced in the playoffs. Hence his success against our D!

But he has to throw better than Riley and see the field better than Riley does.

I put a lot of this on Golden. He got out coached in my opinion. You don’t put Gray on an island with Smith in that situation. Hell, in any situation. He got toasted multiple times.

His game plan wasn’t great but we missed 12-15 tackles. We blew 2 TD assignments because people didn’t do what they were supposed too.

Yes planning was one past but execution is the second part. Just like the missed FG. I didn’t like the call but you still have to make that.

Not necessarily. Riley missed Love wide open on the missed FG attempt.

Riley’s vision wasn’t all that great for a QB.

Yeah, fair enough! He played great! Ohio State had a really good game plan and their all star roster executed it at a very high level tonight. That’s the story. Our coaches and players battled but the odds were against them.

At the end of the day, Vegas got the line almost exactly right. That tells me both teams showed up.

Both of yall are fucking insane

Al had an impossible job and did the best anyone could. Playing 1v1 robber schemes the entire time would have meant 50 points.

Totally possible at full strength, not with what he had.

"Good Riddance"????

LMAO... LMAFO even

I hope we can make it back and pOSU is our opponent. We need to finally beat them down and get a W. But agree, great season and remember pOSU maxxed out their Black Card to buy their championship while we were limping thru the playoffs mustering up everything we had. Go Irish!

Running ability is great and a difference maker. I'd rather have A Qb who can throw.

Will Howard had 169 yards rushing in 15 games. He got 57 tonight.

He's a crappy runner. He's hoisting a trophy tonight.

It’s the truth. He mad a few good passes but he single handily missed that. Also missed great house earlier. He doesn’t see the field well for some reason.

Has vegas been right this whole playoff?

I think I remember Kirby making a comment in an interview question baiting criticism of the format to that end.
