Um
Tim Prister just said on today's II pd that Jeremiyah is the greatest running back in the history of Notre Dame....
This isn't hyperbolic Bryan Driskell talking either.
I love this kid so so much.
Makes sense in terms of pure talent. He's the whole package, right? Determination, speed, power, agility, balance/coordination, pure athleticism. If everything comes together with the team and the o-line, he theoretically could be on the 2005 Reggie Bush level of domination, imo.

Strong agree. Given the stakes, the personal circumstances, goddamn. It's up with Kinnon Tatum over the fucking top and Reggie Brooks passing out in the end zone for me.
Should have been Rocket punt return for the win and potential national championship over Colorado .

If we've jumped to the best plays. This is up there with any of them. '73 Sugar Bowl. Both teams undefeated. #3 Irish hanging on against #1 Alabama 24-23. ND at their own 3 facing a 3rd and long with a couple of minutes left. Everyone expecting ND to run the ball when Ara calls a pass. Clements to Weber. IIRC Weber had only caught one pass all year. That play won the '73 NC for our Irish.

Honestly, the more I think about what Love has done and the more I hear others put it into the universe about being the greatest RB in ND history after only 1 full year as a starter.....

The more I think the admin and staff have an obligation to go as hard as possible at adding any missing/depth pieces. We need to avoid the injuries like this year and we need a lot of guys to develop into the players they can be.

Considering that a national title hung in the balance. Imo, this not only would have been the greatest/most dramatic play of all time in ND football, but possibly the greatest in all of college football history if not for the iffy flag:

This play was like something out of a movie regarding the setup.
They ended up giving Colorado at 10-1-1 a share of the title so theoretically they possibly would have give a 10-2 ND a share as our record was much more dificult(would have had 4 top 10 wins & 6 top 25!).
Before the PSU game it seemed like this is the epitome of ND outcomes in big games during my time as a fan.
Love the Ricky Watters celebration:)

Agree, it they don't throw the flag this would probably be considered the greatest play in ND history. I can still remember yelling at the TV.

My guess is $1M Plus. Biggest star we have had with national attention since.... Floyd? Maybe even longer.
If we're talking about NIL valuation, I would say Jimmy Clausen. He would have fetched a pretty penny with his hype (and never ever would have gone to ND most likely).

If we're talking about real world valuation from talent perspective, we're going back to Holtz era imo.

Edit: Manti would be an interesting NIL player...not sure how that would have gone down. Both in recruiting, and retention.

Prister referred to Love on the II podcast this week as the Greatest Running back in Notre Dame History

Anyone else catch on that II podcast that maybe Love wasn't feeling it pregame and dad got ahold of him and got him in the appropriate mindset?
That's awesome, sometimes we all need a pep talk from the old man.

On top of being super talented, the kid is a cocky mother...

In all my years of sports, when you find a dude who talks a big game and then actually lives up to it... its special.

I saw online (some beat writer posted it) that it's a pregame ritual he does

Obviously the "greatest ND plays ever" is a tough comparison given the long history, but in the much shorter history of ND plays I can remember, I'm not sure I've had two more visceral reactions to a play than JLove planting an IU defender into ND stadium's turf and to JLove hurdling a tackle and fighting off four more PSU defenders to get into the endzone. A short list of most memorable for me:

- JLove fighting PSU for the go-ahead TD, Greathouse's ankle-breaking tying TD, Christian Gray stealing the win in regulation
- Christian Gray redemption pick-6 to put ND in the playoff
- Kyren opening drive TD against Clemson in 2020 and reversing field for a 91-yard, 4th quarter TD against UNC
- Stanford 2012 goal line stand
- Golson to Koyack 2014 game winner
- Kizer to Fuller to save the Virginia game
- Zibby TD return against USC
- Quinn to Smardzija to beat UCLA
- Joey Getherall reverse to beat Air Force in OT

And last but not least, one of the most euphoric moments of my life:

- Elijah Shumate #RememberTheSix

Kyren opening drive vs Clemson is a great shout
