That makes zero sense whatsoever.

Poles' job is safe, unless a top HC candidate doesn't want to work for Poles, in which case, he'd be let go. Why wait? If there's even an inkling that a top HC wouldn't want to work for Poles, what's the point of having him as GM at all!? Poles should be the one trying to get somebody to work for him.

Every day, this organization just keeps adding animals to this three ring circus of ineptitude.

Yeah, the whole "he's safe unless he's not" thing makes no sense. Yet again, the Bears let their head coach conduct his post-game presser while leadership was discussing whether to fire him or not. Everything is ass backwards

I actually kind of like the line of thinking and agree with it. GM and Coach need to be in lockstep. Amateur hour is over. Get the best coach you can and make sure the GM is able to empower them.

I will be stunned if Vrabel goes to Ohio State.

If he's burned every NFL bridge and can't find another HC job, so be it, but I don't think that is the case at all.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. He would immediately have the support of the fan base being a former player there unlike the dipshit they have now.

Poles needs gone as well. Start over with a clean GM/HC combo.
Yes and this time actually let them make the fucking decision.

Don't just hire a dude, and then drop a name of 3 guys on his desk and give him 24 hours to choose.

I don't really understand why this has to matter. They don't care that Ryan Day isn't a former player. They care he keeps losing to Michigan. Jerry from the Costco in Westerville beats Michigan, no one cares he never "played the game."

It has been widely reported that Vrabel has no interest in coaching college ball. I would lean toward believing that, but then most of us thought Harbaugh would never coach college ball again either and he did. There was an alum and former player connection there as well.

Vrabel strikes me as the kind of guy that doesn't want to deal with the minutiae of college football, but you have Belichick at UNC and Michael Vick at Norfolk, so who knows anymore.

I would take Vrabel at Halas Hall in a second as a fan. If they're leaning toward hiring an offensive coach, Vrabel won't happen.

They break the losing streak against Green Bay and drop themselves to the 10th pick in the process. Both OT could be gone by then.

The only positive is whoever the new coach is won't have to worry about the losing streak to Green Bay anymore.

Not even a little bit surprised that they win when it's not at all beneficial.

Just going to sit back and watch what the next dumb ass decision this organization is going to make

Would have gotten the seventh pick if they lost. I have supreme confidence that they won’t bungle the coaching search and draft. They’re really a well run organization.

Loser talk. Loser mentality has affected Bears fans. They beat their biggest rival to end an embarrassing losing streak. They screwed over Green Bay’s playoff positioning in the process, while injuring Love and others, and people are pissed about this?

With how many holes this roster has, they should be able to find a good player at 10.

Take the win! Take the momentum Caleb has coming out of his rookie year! Never feel bad about beating Green Bay!

Yeah, I like having a top 10 pick. The harsh reality is that the Bears need to draft in the trenches in the first, period.

Will Campbell and Mason Graham are both going to be gone by 7. Both are expected to go in the top 5 or 6 almost universally.

This team had NO business finishing as bad as they did. That was 100% on horrid coaching. This was a team that should've finished at least with 8 or 9 wins. Horrible head coaching contributed to 4 losses, bare minimum.

I'll die a happy man if I never see a WR screen again. Onward. Also, if I hear the term that we need a leader of men, I might lose my F'n mind. We don't need that to be the basis of our next coach. What we need is a winner, a coach that can develop talent, can effectively manage and convey a game plan, and make crucial in game decisions. Lastly someone who can coach some accountability and discipline into his players. The penalties and in game blunders this year, were unacceptable. Clean it up.

In the grand scheme of things, what does this win mean? The coaching staff (what's left of it) won't be here. It counts for nothing next season.

They're a franchise without a coach and have a franchise QB who was just sacked 68 times in 17 games.

Loser mentality is beating Green Bay should somehow make this situation feel better when winning actually did equal if not more harm than good. They ended the Green Bay losing streak in a game that really didn't matter. The skeleton crew coaching staff has a story and whoever the new guy is won't have to hear about it.

It was a feel good moment that was fleeting at best.

The hit rate between 7 vs 10 is marginal at best. It emphasizes the point that draft picks are a coin toss.

Until then I’m enjoying the W.

If yesterday somehow got them closer to a Super Bowl, I'm totally down with that. I somehow think drafting Will Campbell is probably the better option of the two, but at this point, beggars can't be choosers. Another Super Bowl is what I'm hoping they are truly after at some point.

1985/86 will be 40 years now. Let's wheel everybody out for a tribute at halftime.

I get the bolded and that Will Campbell could be plug-and-play at tackle. However, there's always 1 OT people fall in love with which means they're taken in the top 5 so I don't think getting Campbell would have been realistic even at 7. This is probably controversial, but given this year's musical chair act on the OL, I would like a lineman with positional flexibility. I feel like Wyatt Milum could be that, but I don't do this for a living.

This list is comical on some of who they’re set interview. It has to be 10-15 deep. But better than the Jets with Rex Ryan and Nagy

I would say the Bears would be dumb to not at least interview and gain insight from McCarthy. Realistically, multiple teams are going to at least interview McCarthy.

But then the Bears are just gonna turn around and hire him because that would be such a them move.

Correct. He's won 174 NFL games as a head coach. Even if it's a fishing expedition trying to gather information, you can probably get something out of it.

Half the time, interviews are just doing a favor to an agent to increase their clients profile.

It definitely helps McCarthy in his negotiations with the Cowboys to have other teams supposedly chasing him.

Is Shane Steichen on the list?? The Bears should definitely trade for him.
