So, just to confirm… the portal is closed now to all players/teams except those with bowl or playoff games left. Then players get 5 days after their last game to enter the transfer portal.
I'm not clear if it's only players who have games left to play (like, say, us) or you have up to five days enter after your team's last game (like, for instance, a USC player whose season ended Friday could enter up until like Tuesday). Anyone know?

Either way, do we now cross Klubnick off the list?

Greg Gabriel says that ND will not be taking a portal QB anymore. He’s been pretty spot on thus far. He is hedging a bit in his post though so we will see. Only noteworthy because this is a different tune than the last couple weeks

I think I would only spend money on a transfer QB if it is Klubnik or Milroe. I haven't seen Ewers enough, but I love the dual threat QB and I know Texas WR were very good. Not sure Ewers would be as good at ND. Maybe...other than those three, I would spend that money elsewhere.

Was Ewers told that he wasn’t coming back to Texas under any circumstance? While he’s in the hunt and potentially favored for a national title?

Are we sure that’s the Texas QB considering a transfer?

They are moving on to Arch next year. That's been known pretty much all year.

Freshman ending their first semester of college can transfer to ND. What’s the status of Jakobi Lane at USC? He went off again in the bowl game. I love him in Blue and Gold.

Known or assumed? Ewers to ND is an odd fit. Manning to ND is not… and oddly enough more feasible.
Known. And you have these flipped. Ewers is a better cultural fit than Arch is for ND.

And circling back Texas' wide receivers are nothing special. Their best Wr is a tight end who's good not great. Bond and Golden are solid but a far cry away from what they had last year with AD and Worthy.

Known. I played golf at the Longhorn country club before the A&M game and was told by a few of the guys there that contracts had been signed guaranteeing manning would be the starting qb next year.

How would landing Arch Manning be more feasible?
Because of the administration’s stance on Freshman transfers. It’s understood by department heads that because freshman aren’t in their majors yet and have had only a semester or 2 at the most, that they can transfer.

Well Arch is a sophomore and we’ve been landing grad transfers like Ewers for years

When I say Ewers is an odd fit, I’m referring to playing style and history. A Manning + The QB Position at ND is star power that nobody in this era has seen. It’s Ron Pawlus, Jimmy Clausen level media hype. But with a guy that can actually back it up. That Peyton’s Places episode may have been more than just a TV show.

The reality is we’re bound by assumptions, but the people making the decisions (the boosters, the board and the donors) are also the rules makers. They’re in alignment for the first time in decades. Anything can be in play. This is a real conversation that’s been had. But of course one of many. This new collective is swinging for the fences.

I call bullshit. They may have told him that, but there is no way that they put that into a signed That is what I was told by people pretty close to the program. They said otherwise he was leaving after last season. Ewers will not be coming back under any circumstance.
That is just what I was told by people pretty close to the program, including a couple boosters. Otherwise manning was leaving after last year.

I don't know anything about Texas, but in general I like the idea of having a sophomore QB play in spot duty and then take over full time as a junior.
I'd grab someone this year and let CJ play in spots and then take over full time as a junior. At that point, I don't care who else is on the roster and would be fine with a depth QB transfer or Buchner as a #3 if he wanted to stay.
