I think Boston is overreacting to the Fried contract. I think they gave up too much for a guy who has made 32 career starts. It's a good return based on what you can gather on paper, and Boston has one of the deeper systems in MLB going into last season.

Braden Montgomery hit 32 HR for TAMU in 2024. That's cool with me.

But the White Sox are idiots so if they did get anything in return, they'll f*ck it up.

Well:

Yoan Moncada was a bust after showing promise early on.

Michael Kopech was traded to the Dodgers for...Miguel Vargas and some guy named Jeral Perez!? Oh, you're not even trying to hide it with this one Jerry!

Oh, well at least they threw in the withered remains of Victor Diaz, because I'm sure he was raring to go after not being in the show for about a decade!

Looking strictly at Baseball Reference WAR:

Sale had 17.1 WAR with Boston.

Kopech was 4.8 for the White Sox and Moncada was 14.7.

Sale wasted his prime from 22 to 27 years of age with the White Sox. His arm finally exploded when he was with Boston. Moncada and Kopech probably peaked in 20 and 21 when the Sox had their little blip of a "run".

Holy shit. Watching these guys has been…enjoyable? Not having cancers like Yoan, TA, and Eloy negatively impacting everything seems to be having such a positive impact.

Better approaches at the plate. Vargas looks like the guy we thought we were getting in the Kopech deal. Benny could be turning things around. The pitching has been tremendous. If we can mess around and only lose 90 games somehow, that would be phenomenal improvement.

It’s been fun to watch these four games. That’s more than I can say for the last two years.

I don't have an antenna and I'm definitely not paying for that new channel. I watched an inning or two of a lot of games last year. This year will probably be the lowest number watched ever, and that includes two deployments
