Right. But, Communism....
We warned at the time too, but we didn't want to listen. There's a reason the founders put the checks and balances, and all the other guard rails in place. Now each party slowly chips away at them and tries to outdo the other. And here we are

The argument is you're spending $70K now on a car. My point is that the $70K is better spent on the market then into a car. Holy fuck.

So now they don't buy the car at all and just buy the market instead with the $70k that materialized out of thin air? I guess nobody here would be surprised to hear you ride a scooter to work.

Only one candidate even suggests reducing the size and scope of government. DOGE for the win.

I could totally get behind cutting the DOD budget - my tinfoil hat theory is that our 20 years in middle east was to re-up demand for VA services - VA is a huge portion of DOD budget. Sounds sick and unconscionable until you realize MK Ultra was a real thing.

Tell me one area of government spending Team Kamala will reduce again?

No, they have that $70K in FCF to invest however they see fit. So, they go your route of $1,321 monthly into SPY it's still better than putting it towards the car.

If you believe that either candidate will end up reducing government spending..... I got a bridge to sell you.

One of my biggest disappointments with Trump was after he got elected, he didn't give two shits about any of that. The pure pandering about OT wages and tips is just the cherry on top.

How about we all just agree that IF they did make auto interest tax deductible, the rich would finance the cars regardless of all the bullshit back and forth previously posted.

So this $70k of capital is really free cash flow. If you are saying they have $70k/month FCF then most normal people would just buy the car rather than deal with a dumb ass bank and only invest $770k in the market that year instead of $840K. Your analogy keeps getting dumber the more I try to understand it.

Auto loan interest deductibility is fucking terrible policy. Incentivize poor people to make riskier purchases, and the rich will be laughing all the way to the bank at idiots that eat it up.

That is exactly what I'm saying. Jesus read the first fucking post lmao. You think someone who has $770K to invest into the market yearly is "dealing with the bank" my god. I think that's all anyone needs to read right there.

Congrats on talking yourself into a circle. No wonder you support Word Salad McKneepads.

Your original claim was effectively "it is stupid to pay cash if you can borrow less than 7%, any rich person would do it that way which is why they are rich." Paraphrasing of course.

I asked Chat GPT to weigh in so we could move on-
In this debate, the two main posters, TorontoGold and drayer54, present contrasting viewpoints on car financing.

1. TorontoGold’s Argument:

• Position: Wealthy individuals should finance cars if interest rates are below 7%.

• Rationale: By financing, one can invest the freed-up capital in the stock market, where the potential returns are higher than the interest rate on the loan. This allows individuals to maximize their financial growth through investments rather than tying up liquid assets in a depreciating asset like a car.

• Supporting Points: Wealthy individuals often get favorable interest rates (around 5-7%), which makes financing attractive. He argues that holding onto cash for investments instead of spending it outright on a car will lead to greater returns over time.

2. drayer54’s Argument:

• Position: Prefers paying for cars in full rather than financing.

• Rationale: Drayer54 values not having monthly payments and instead focuses on saving aggressively in dividend stocks. He prefers to avoid debt altogether and accumulate cash to pay for future cars upfront.

• Supporting Points: He argues that paying in full allows him to avoid interest and maintain peace of mind without monthly obligations.

3. RDU Irish’s Critique of TorontoGold:

• Position: Financing a depreciating asset like a car and paying interest doesn’t make financial sense.

• Rationale: Even though investing the freed-up cash might offer higher returns, there’s considerable variance in real-world market outcomes, and servicing debt reduces free cash flow. He suggests buying a cheaper car and keeping it longer, which would free up more cash to invest.

Evaluation:

TorontoGold is correct in theory, especially for those who can reliably earn higher investment returns than the interest on a car loan. However, RDU Irish’s points about market volatility and behavioral finance are crucial. The decision to finance depends on the individual’s ability to tolerate risk, manage debt, and access favorable interest rates. Financing makes sense for those with high and stable incomes who can invest at a higher rate of return than the loan’s interest. However, for those who prefer financial security or dislike debt, paying in full might still be a better option.

There isn’t a specific income level where one option is definitively better, but for individuals with lower incomes or unstable finances, financing may increase financial risk. Conversely, those with higher incomes, investment knowledge, and risk tolerance can benefit from financing if they can outpace the loan rate with their investments.

Yeah, speaking of Hitler...saw Kamala on C-SPAN today, spent 3 minutes doing nothing but comparing Trump to Adolf. Only a few months ago after the assassination attempt it was "Time for restraint and to dial back the rhetoric." Oops. Feels like a Hail Mary in any case. Some polls have her struggling in battleground states, can't imagine she'd go for the low meme mudslinging unless her camp is worried.
[EDIT] That's funny, I started typing this after Toronto's message #1752 and had to step away, then just saw Drayer referenced what I'm talking about while I finished up the post

While we're on the topic of car financing, I've got an anecdote. My grandfather is fairly well off. He's the kind of guy that always goes to the dealership when his car has a problem. One Friday before an ND home game his Buick Enclave got some sidewall damage on a tire, this was his tailgating vehicle to every game. He goes into the dealership and they tell him they're out of that particular tire and won't be able to get it in till next week. He then asks to look at their new Enclaves and tells them he'll buy one outright on the spot on one condition: someone unloads all his tailgating gear from the old Enclave and loads it into the new one the same way (The trunk and rear seating area were completely packed floor to the ceiling). He drove to South Bend the next morning in a fully paid for new SUV.

The fact that you =/Lep/Uluk are more concerned about Trump being called Hitler, which is not related to my post at all, and not calling out a clearly inflammatory tweet is quite telling.

Like what are we doing here lmao
Who is the dude that made the Tweet, and why should we care? I'm more concerned what Kamala is saying.

He's got 750K followers, used to be at the Blaze (prominently sourced on here) and now is at the Gateway Pundit.

His post should not be allowed on Twitter. But, because of the new ownership it's staying on there.

Why you would choose to like Drayers post is beyond me.

Which one, the one with GW and Romney as Hitler?
Trump is Hitler, Bush is Hitler, Romney is Hitler...
If every candidate is Hitler, none of them are Hitler. The tactic is so old and played out, anyone who uses it loses all credibility. Not saying you're doing that.

If it makes you feel better, it wasn't personal. I wasn't "Liking" it because it was targeted at you, I was laughing at the hilarious comparisons. If Romney was literally Hitler, I can see now why liberals are so scared of Trump. That must be like Satan in the flesh.

Why is it always Hitler? It's lazy and lacks creativity.

How about Stalin? He killed anout 50 million people. He even had a better mustache.

How about Mussolini? He was Hitlers hero.

How about Mao?

Pol Pot?

Idi Amin? I know someone who actually met him. That would be different.

Every republican candidate is Hitler. Give is someone else for a change.

Right? It's always Hitler, and it never makes any sense.
Hitler was an insane dictator that tried to exterminate the Jews. Trump is the first President to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and helped promote peace in the Middle East. They are not the same.

Guys, guys, …guys. All this talk of Hitler is gonna give @RDU Irish a priapism.
I would have thought a prominent right wing commentator praising Hitler would have elicited a "Yeah that's really fucking bad" or a "Well Elon is more hands off but I hope that guy gets dealt with", not some sort triangulation to "oh they keep calling him Hitler!!!".

It's the whole meme about someone saying they like pancakes and someone saying OH SO YOU DONT LIKE WAFFLES? WHAT THE FUCK.
