The collateral damage to seeing the Guardians, Tigers and Royals all playing right now is that Jerry is going to think he can make a turnaround in 2025 and be in the playoffs in a year's time. The Royals in particular, considering the CWS have been hiring Royals people left and right for years to run various parts of the team. It's just how the man thinks.

I think if every single possible thing went right for them, every planet aligned and bad luck fell on half of the AL they still are not even remotely close to being a serious franchise.

For a guy that doesn't like parting with money, it's strange Jerry doesn't embrace analytics considering what front offices like Milwaukee, Cleveland, Tampa, etc. have been able to do on small payrolls.
Sox won't be good until Jerry actually starts spending.

I’m not gonna wish death on the guy, but it sure would help solve some problems for us fans.
Sad but true. The same could have been said for Bill Wirtz and the Blackhawks. The old man died in 2007 and by 08-09 they lost the conference final. The following season they won a Cup. There was a huge PR blitz to welcome fans, old and new alike, back into the fold on top of a good young team that eventually won three Cups during their core's peak. That's really all the the White Sox can hope for right now unless something drastically changes, which it likely will not.

Jerry's son Michael is President and CEO of the Bulls. His first action was to get rid of Gar Foreman and John Paxson. While they have been in NBA purgatory they're not even close to being as embarrassing as the White Sox, but that being said, I don't know that Michael would be the answer.

The family has said they don't want the White Sox after he dies. There's tax advantages to waiting until he dies to sell the team.

I recall reading the same.

I think with our luck we get a billionaire Washington Commanders/Oakland A's situation and the team ends up moving anyway. Hard to imagine any other scenario.

After bungling a rebuild that should've won another Series, the Sox are the first one of my legacy teams that I've given up on. He can move em to Nashville, he can sell them and they can move them anywhere. Thankfully I was never a Cub hater due to Ron Santo and can easily make the transition. I can always wear my black Sox hats even without giving two fuks about them. When the inevitable question asking if I'm from the Southside comes up, I'll just reply... Nope, just a big NWA fan.

Now if Todd Wagner & Cuban want to buy them and take back the city, I'm all ears.

None of the Reinsdorf children have any interest in running the White Sox when Jerry is gone. Sadly, he'll outlive all of them anyway.

Report: White Sox analytics department has been "reorganized" and "rebranded"

Some of these quotes are so laughable. Departments are now allowed to talk to each other? What an absolute disaster of an organization Jerry has let pile up. Getz isn't the answer, but the untangling he has to do has to be painstaking.

Also, Danny Parkins asked Manfred directly about the Sox moving, he knows the value is in Chicago to have 2 teams. They are going nowhere. Nashville will probably get a team in the future but it will be an expansion team, which owners profit on the close of a new team, not the moving/sale of another.

They're decades behind their own division, let alone Major League Baseball and North American sports.

The list of managerial candidates is pleasing to the eye on paper. Hopefully they don't do anything stupid and hire someone who played on the 2005 team. Start branching away from this shit show at the fuck factory franchise and hire people from outside of it, empower them and try to get into this millenium when it comes to running a team.

If you were a Nashville ownership group…would you want to be anchored to THIS franchise, or start fresh?

Unfortunately whether in Bridgeport or at the 78…we’re stuck with these guys 🤷🏼‍♂️

Yeah, I can’t hate on Getz at all. It’s the ultimate “bet on yourself” move to take the job when you have to know you’re under qualified in hopes that if you can turn things around that you’ll set yourself up for the rest of your career.

Problem is, basically every move he’s made has only shown how under qualified he truly is. He’s trying though. Maybe he can improve some things and make some upgrades in areas so the next guy can start on better footing once JR kicks the bucket or sells.

This was supposedly Getz's guy all along. It's not AJ Pierzynski, though, so darn.

Venable went to Princeton and has coached with the Cubs, Red Sox and Rangers. These are organizations that employ intelligent front offices. He's not very far removed from having been a player. Last season, 2016, 42 years of age.

Whatever brains Venable has, he's going to need them.

I mean with his background and the organizations he’s worked for, maybe he can take us out of the Stone Age when it comes to analytics at least?

That starts at the top with investment from ownership. Then you have to have proper implementation from the front office.

It is hard to have confidence in this front office to be able to work with whatever they get, which won't be much when the owner/chairman isn't willing to invest in analytics the way all the other teams do.

I don't know what Venable brings to the table other than not being affiliated with the CWS previously. Maybe once he's in he can point out how backwards jackwagon bad their operation is and shine that light from within.
