Yea because surely other kids would appreciate seeing a current “commit” being hung out to dry regardless of what is actually happening behind the scenes. I can guarantee you this would make recruiting more difficult, but hey at least the optics would make you happier as a fan..until you started bitching about them not being able to get kids to commit to begin with anymore.
I'm not entirely convinced that having high-profile elite recruits committed 16 months before Signing Day is necessarily a positive anymore. That's a long time to have to hang on to them and we seem to lose at least as many as we keep.

Well not if were recruiting him for Football....Considered himself a Basketball guy first but stopped growing, he's been average at QB so far but I guess we will see his progession, i'd have him at least 6th in potential replacements.
Uncle Rico’s burner account confirmed.

Whoever ND adds should be a depth guy, not a kid who is expecting to start. If you come in next year and beat out the competition- best man wins.

CJ Carr has been the future, even when Deuce was committed.

I hope ND stays away from the portal for a 2025 QB.

Similar to the amount of time couples can keep a long distance relationship going without losing the spark.... or banging the locals.

Do you think OSU or Alabama recruit Joes every other class to keep their starters happy? Or because they fear competition and transfers?

Nah fuck that. Give me a kid that thinks they can beat out CJ.

Totally agree with this. It seems a lot of these kids are using ND as a security blanket or to obtain more NIL. It could also be a gut decision heavily influenced by parents who are attracted to the academics and/or character building. Frustrating.

Even if they are themselves sincerely drawn to the best of what Notre Dame offers and intend to honor their commitment - as I like to believe both Deuce and Keeley were when they committed - a year-plus is a long time to keep “choosing hard” when easier and more tempting offers keep being placed in front of you.

No. You take a guy who expects to start, and who you think you'll be able to trust to win if he gets playing time.

The days of taking flyers on the Brandon Clarks of the world are over. We need to stop simply assuming CJ Carr will be a superstar. It is absolutely no sure thing.

You take the best guy you can get. Period.

Agreed. I could care less, but I noticed on Rivals that his ranking has dropped. Couldn't begin to imagine why.
I was going to correct you and tell you that you couldn’t care less, but maybe the fact that you noticed his ranking dropped on Rivals actually implies that you could care less.

We need to remember that history has proven that the next great NFL talent of this QB class is likely a 3 or 4 star, not a 5 star. It’s hard to know who that is, but we need to find him for once. We are due for some QB luck.

I could be way off, but it seems that in terms of Knight and Keely, the family influence was more towards the upfront money as to the academics and the character building. I have never met anyone in either family but when both moms are on social media saying that they will entertain up front money while their children were committed to ND, that kinda tells me all I need to know.

From the The Athletic write-up on this years elite 11:

The biggest revelation from this year’s Elite 11 was Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound three-star prospect from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, who is the No. 39 quarterback in the 247Sports Composite. Sagapolutele arrived at camp without as much impressive film as most of the other attendees. He also hadn’t faced the same level of talent.

“He was unbelievable,” said coach Devin Gardner, a former starting quarterback at Michigan. “Usually, when you’re in a situation like that and when you’re in a setting like this, when you get to play with the wolves, like how these guys are, you don’t show up. You’re just kind of there. But he came to dominate, and he definitely did. He has everything you want in a quarterback: the arm strength, arm talent, good size. … He’s a fire-breather.”

After the first night, the Elite 11 coaches reconvene and talk about each quarterback. Yogi Roth, one of the coaches and a former USC assistant quarterbacks coach, said: “This is the guy that is going to walk out of this camp and his life is going to be changed. And I think it’s happening because of the amount of (college) coaches that all of us have heard from since then.”

Coming into the Elite 11, Sagapolutele had offers from Boise State, Cal and Oregon State, among others. Expect the conversation about him to pick up significantly.

“I was floored by how talented he was,” coach Quincy Avery said. “This kid is going to get so much better, too.”

“He came out of nowhere,” Hoover said. “He was kind of an unknown. You watch film and he kind of looks bored, but then he gets here in front of all these other guys and he really cranked it up.”

my bro stated there is smoke here from his ND dormmate who was from HI
That would be tremendous. There's a reason he's not a five star but his film is clip after clip of him dropping in touch passes against solid coverage. He's built for spreading out a defense and absolutely shredding man coverage.

IMO, he's a great fit for a Denbrock scheme.

Can we get a HI QB stud to come to ND and how are his academics? I don't see any academic schools in the mix? Cal isn't demanding that way for its football players, easy admissions -- Right?

Not concerned...had a 3.75 GPA after junior year...heard the family is a big fan of ND after all the other Poly families experiences with ND

Thinking about when Tua committed to Alabama and a Tide fan on their message boards was genuinely concerned about having a QB who can’t speak English in the huddle.
