Ah, the wonderfully not insane Covid thread, thank you. It makes sense then.
Feel free to read the numerous papers on the topic then.

The hilarious part of this is how vile the left is against any black American who dares leave the Democrat party. If you resort to calling anybody who disagrees with you that is black an Uncle Tom, that says more about you than it does themClarence Thomas
Sure, little kids weren't nearly as in danger from health issues. But there are millions of poor school workers were disproportionally affected and many of them have kids, too. Like I said, I worked in a district that tried to prevent the spread AND fed kids while keeping people employed.Feel free to read the numerous papers on the topic then.
I think Trump has genuinely disgusted a lot of people. He’s hijacked the Republican Party and amplified every bad element. It’s like the tea party on crack. And watching people bend over backwards to defend an obvious con man is too much to stomach.Brings up an interesting point. I have a feeling IE as a whole is probably still dominated by a majority conservatives, but this Politics board in recent months feels somewhat closer to a 50/50 split lately. 4 years ago I don't think that was the case.
No, just in this instance Clarence Thomas. The hilarious part of this is how vile the left is against any black American who dares leave the Democrat party. If you resort to calling anybody who disagrees with you that is black an Uncle Tom, that says more about you than it does them
Don't Fannie Mae loans actually go through banks? When Bill gives the green light, it may not be a direct order to banks, but to think there wasn't some pressure to approve the loans to impact the economy. Both are complicit.lol I never made racist "accusatoins". I found it hilarious that you took up a theory parroted by a guy who wrote a book that said the Government was DEI/Woke/Buzzword to push banks to lend when they shouldn't have.
Those of us who actually studied economics and literally studied this very event in-depth, laugh at that notion. You would have never had as great of a collapse as it was if MBS' weren't given the greenlight (thanks Bill) and financial markets deregulated (under Reagan). But, yeah sure let's assume the Government forced the banks L-O-L.
So please tell me what makes Clarence Thomas an "Uncle Tom" thenNo, just in this instance Clarence Thomas.
It'd be like the wrestling guy meme with the long paper, but his story about his sister from long ago is the perfect starting point. So please tell me what makes Clarence Thomas an "Uncle Tom" then
Of course, I've stated (even in the post you're quoting) that Bill is very complicit in this.Don't Fannie Mae loans actually go through banks? Na, it's pretty consistent online. You see quite a bit of it. Search "Left plantation" on Twitter and you get stuff like this:No, just in this instance Clarence Thomas.
They're not really, other than the military stuff. Stolen Valor is a big no no, it's led to jail time for some that have exploited it.Genuine question and I'm trying to facilitate a conversation. Why should Walz lies be a disqualifying thing but not those of Trump's or Vance?
Fully understand that part of it. I just view Trump's bone spurs lie to avoid military time. They're not really, other than the military stuff. Stolen Valor is a big no no, it's led to jail time for some that have exploited it.
To piggyback off of this before COVID I worked in bank funding and greatly benefited from the deregulation from Trump administration. A big push was banks were able to take in more money from unsecured sources. That's directly led to small neighborhood banks being shuttered as well as more collapses from the likes of silicon valley bank and other similar banks. There's a fine line between deregulate everything and over regulationDon't Fannie Mae loans actually go through banks? His daddy pulling strings to dodge the draft isn't the same as lying about combat experience or rank for clout or exploitation.Fully understand that part of it. I just view Trump's bone spurs lie to avoid military time.
Very true and valid as well. Just genuinely curious. Thanks! His daddy pulling strings to dodge the draft isn't the same as lying about combat experience or rank for clout or exploitation.
FWIW, Biden also received a medical deferment during Vietnam for childhood asthma, but in his memoirs asthma is never mentioned. It does detail a lot of sports activity involving football and swimming.
The draft resistance thing is all kind of moot anyway. Carter pardoned draft resisters with unconditional amnesty in 1977.
The point of my post was referencing the countless times the media and others constantly point out that Trump lied, yet they were pretty quiet about Walz in comparison.Genuine question and I'm trying to facilitate a conversation. Why should Walz lies be a disqualifying thing but not those of Trump's or Vance?
What lies re: Vance are you tracking?Genuine question and I'm trying to facilitate a conversation. Why should Walz lies be a disqualifying thing but not those of Trump's or Vance?
Vance's lies regarding his mother's opioid addiction and how she got the drugs. She worked at a hospital and stole them and he's used her addiction to push an agenda about the drugs coming across the borders. What lies re: Vance are you tracking?
Additionally, as posted above, Trump's lies are well documented, and in many cases the petty fact checking that does get done re: Trump is just absolute garbage and pedantic BS.
For example, NPR (completely partisan org and shouldn't receive a dime of public funding) posted this https://www.npr.org/2024/08/11/nx-s1-5070566/trump-news-conference
They fact checked plenty of statements that are just outright subjective opinions, such as “And we’re very close to a world war. In my opinion, we’re very close to a world war.” ; “Kamala's record is horrible. She's a radical left person at a level that nobody's seen.” “We have a president that's the worst president in the history of our country.”
When did he actually lie about how his mother got in possession of drugs? I think Vance's narrative has been 1) He has seen firsthand how damaging drug addiction is to people's lives 2) He has sponsored legislation in congress to minimize the influence that Big Pharma has on public officials and 3) Drugs are entering the country illegally and that is a huge problemVance's lies regarding his mother's opioid addiction and how she got the drugs. "I nearly lost my mother to the poison coming across the border"
"I nearly lost my mother to the poison coming across the border"
I think at best his being purposely vague to put the spotlight onto two issues important to his platform border control and the opioid crisis.Respectfully, I think your interpretation might be a bit tainted.
I've got no dog in this fight but I understand he almost lost his mother to opioids. My take is that he is saying that these same opioids (poison) are coming across the border. I didn't read it as him suggesting that his mother's specific addiction was a result of the border crisis.
My opinion only.
Cheers and Go Irish!!
What an absurd take. If you don’t vote Democrat, you ain’t black!Clarence Thomas

Just to clarify, they used IUI and Walz has said they used IVF. If he simply stated "fertility treatments" instead of IVF there's zero controversy right?Fair enough! I do think that it is substantially a less worse lie than lying about your service record. I would say it is akin to Walz' lie about him and his wife using IVF for conception.
Sure, but Vance and Trump have both publicly stated their support for IVF and spoken out against states who have chosen to try to ban IVF. So not only is he lying about his personal experience (IUI and IVF are pretty different), he is lying about what Vance and Trump, as well as the vast majority of the Republican Party, believe.Just to clarify, they used IUI and Walz has said they used IVF. If he simply stated "fertility treatments" instead of IVF there's zero controversy right?
Anyway, I think any spotlight on this helps Dems and their agenda.
