What’s the story with this? I sure hope this is not trueNot sure what's going on here, but there's rumors he won't be around too long (some thought this off season).
It's been the same story since he was hired. He wants to be the head coach of his own program, he believed that coming to Notre Dame to be the RB coach was his quickest way to do that. What’s the story with this? I sure hope this is not true
I agree that his time here won't be permanent. However, He doesn't necessarily need to be an OC to start that path. You can go from RB Coach to G5 HC. Autry Denson, Charles Huff are examples and they did it with less experience than McCullough. Depends on what he wants, though. Lance Taylor did a year of P4 OC and then got a MAC HC job. If McCullough wants a P4 HC job, then I am with you that he's going to have to be an OC most likely, but the RB Coach to G5 HC path is certainly an option. It's been the same story since he was hired. Either this off-season or next, I assume he gets an OC job and starts on that path.
Martin's situation is interesting because he's doing good things there and could get P4 OC looks even though he's the longest tenured MAC HC with Creighton at EMU. He isn't getting the mentions like Sean Lewis, Jason Candle and Moorhead as an OC candidate but he's got a very strong resume you can hold up against all of those guys. Miami OH could consider extending him for the job he's doing.I wonder if McCullough is eyeing the Miami (Ohio) job, hoping Martin leaves for something higher profile.
I do think that if he wanted a college OC job then ND would at least have made a show of interviewing him for the position last offseason.
I hope you are right, and agree with pretty much all of this.I told myself I'd wait until spring rumblings to call my shot on which RB will earn early playing time. I think Aneyas could have a huge impact but I think he'll have to train, practice and learn for a year before he gets the opportunity. He just reminds me of Kyren so much and his skillset seems to overlap more with Love/Price.
Kedren runs powerfully and I'm going to go out on a limb and say he earns short yardage reps/goal line reps to start. What he does with those will determine whether or not that role grows.
I hope both of our young backs raise the floor of the room so guys can't take a day off. I hope Kedren proves me right and Aneyas proves me wrong (on the early snaps) and both find a way to contribute.
Oh, baby...Freshman running back Kedren Young looks like a young Robert Hughes. Young missed most of spring practice with a hamstring injury. The Irish aren’t loaded at running back, but they have two freshmen who’ll likely help this fall.
If he can finish games like Hughes did against USC... I'm for it.I thought this was gonna be a fire Landow update. Robert Hughes was a pretty good rb with a mediocre o line.
That was epic.If he can finish games like Hughes did against USC... I'm for it.

Don't know if I'll ever forget that game. I spent almost my entire 20s watching my Irish lose to Cheatey Petey. Was there for the Bush Push, and when Clausen nearly came back against them in 2009. Hughes put the team on his back a bit, and Rees did enough to pull out the win. That was a pretty damn big stage for a true freshman, that's one reason I'll always support him for helping end that losing streak. I've got an image frozen in my mind of Kiffin holding his play sheet with a dumbfounded stare after they lost.If he can finish games like Hughes did against USC... I'm for it.
I can’t remember who it was, but Hughes absolutely trucked one of USC stud linebackers that game.Don't know if I'll ever forget that game. Catholic HS in the LA area, right?Chris Galippo
Yep, Servite in Anaheim.Catholic HS in the LA area, right?
Had to have been a must get. Got flattened by a CPS kid whose commitment announcement was attended by Chris Zorich.
Savory.
Young is my favorite offensive commit in this class. Can't wait.

I don't care how powerful you are, the most important aspect of short yardage running is quick vision, the second is balance. Kyren Williams is probably the best short yardage back i've seen in a long long time at ND, and he's very small. We're gonna need a short yardage back with Payne out and neither Love not Price appear to be that guy.
Estime would have been much better at short yardage if the QB would have been under center.I don't care how powerful you are, the most important aspect of short yardage running is quick vision, the second is balance. Estime wasn't the best at short yardage despite how big and strong he was, due to a little slower acceleration, and not the best vision behind the LOS.
Aneyas to me (very small spring game sample) looked to have very good vision. I'm voting he starts out as our 3rd back.
Exact same for me. I'm also not from the midwest so SCum, not scUM has always been the Rivalry for me. Season was a success, even if it wasn't. Like has been mentioned, it also was the start of moments like Adams bursting through the line to run up the score and that's a lot fun.Don't know if I'll ever forget that game.
