It should be noted that he broke contract with LFC, so FSG may ultimately have something to say about this depending on how his departure went with them.

Still, this is serious ambition and Emma Hayes is probably hoping that it happens because it would all but guarantee her a raise. Which to me is perfectly fine. The women and men making coaching hire coups back to back would be epic. About damn time.

Not getting my hopes up here.

I think Klopp would be a home run hire and a better National coach than a guy like Pep. Throw the bank at him.

Agreed, but he's already said no.

He's relaxing with his wife somewhere and having a drink not worried about any of it right now. Can't blame him. I'm sure he turns up again somewhere, but it won't be anytime soon.

The search goes on...

Really fun tournament, Spain was the best team. Tough result for England, one of these days it’s bound to come home. Still pissed City sold Cole Palmer.

Two finals, one semi-final and one quarter-final in the last four tournaments. Every country in the world would kill for those results save for France, Italy, Argentina and Spain.

Southgate is England's Brian Kelly. He's restored pride in the program, brought them back to prominence and given them belief that that can win it all, he's just not the right coach to put them over the top. Thank him for his service and start the search for the next coach.

The Copa America should be a severe warning sign for a nation that is hosting a World Cup in two years to get their damn act together fast. Complete and utter shit show.

This is not at all an indictment on the US's ability to manage events like this - it was CONMEBOL.

I've been to that stadium hundreds of times. It's hosted Super Bowls, major concerts, college football national championships, and bowl games, amongst many, many other things. They can handle events like this.

This was a complete failing on the part of CONMEBOL, who demanded they be in charge of security and hosting. Complete joke.

tbf this sort of shit happens in europe all the time too. Both CL finals in Istanbul and Paris were ridiculously badly planned and managed

I think it's also smart to remember that Clubs usually don't allow star players permission to be released for the Olympics for a multitude of reasons.
Timing interferes with the start of the club season, and that usually there is already a continental tournament earlier in the summer (euros and or Copa).

Therefore, the Olympics keeping it at Under-23 with a few overage players allowed is best for everyone.
You have special cases where Neymar elected to represent Brazil at Rio 16, but didn't play in Copa that same summer.

The soccer season is already long enough for top internationals.
Julian Alvarez playing for Argentina is insane. A full 12 months of straight through high end competition.
