Who is this “you all” you speak of?

I didn’t support Biden or Hillary Clinton for that matter. I’m not a registered Democrat either.

I campaigned for and voted for Sanders in the last two elections and Nader before that.

I will say that I have been pleasantly surprised in terms of what Biden has done as far as investing in infrastructure and domestic manufacturing as well as supporting unions.

He also got the US out of the quagmire that was Afghanistan, which Trump was too chickenshit/incompetent to pull off.
So you didn’t vote for Biden in 2020?

It’s really pretty simple. Biden received the support that he did because he was believed to be the most likely candidate to defeat Trump. And he did just that.
why was he believed to be the most likely candidate to defeat Trump? That’s the best y’all could do? I don’t buy it. You’re right he did just that but how’d that work out for you long term? He pulled an “I quit” more disgraceful than LBJ. At least Johnson gave a national address to say he gave up and gave his party more time to get a candidate chosen. That can’t be the best the Dems could do. If not, I don’t want to hear how either party is better than the other when it comes to running primaries & generals.

No, I did not.
Good. In that we are similar. In 2016 & 2020, I wrote in a candidate or voted 3rd party. Couldn’t pull the lever for either POS. Not looking for angels But tired of the duopoly. You have my respect as far as that goes despite being on opposite sides of the political spectrum.

Even more brutal than I remembered. Only hope is that before she is officially coronated polls show that she's even worse than Biden and we get a truly open convention.
If that were to happen. Who would you like to see win?

Michelle Obama
Is she even interested in politics? Reminds me of Oprah polling so high back in the day. Likeable & respectable no doubt but does she want to be the leader of the free world? I’m betting that mansion on Martha’s Vineyard looks a lot more inviting than the shit she’d have to put up w/ being POTUS. That said, she’d win easily over Trump.

I think this is why the Democratic Party should do everything they can to convince her to run. I know you disagree, but there are a lot of people who believe Trump is an existential threat to this country…and for a variety of reasons. Hell, if she has an ego at all, she should want to beat Trump just because of all the despicable things he said about her husband.

P.S. It looks as though Harris is virtually a done deal, so I would imagine the Party tried and failed to get Michelle to run.

Again, I’m talking about the average voter. Go back to 2020 before COVID and tell me you would bet your money on American voters voting Biden over Trump in 2020. At least be honest. Now, once COVID hit, the Dems got their foot in the door. Credit to them for striking. To the winners go the spoils.

I'm confused where you think I'm being dishonest? Trump's approval ratings were horrible in 2019. It's a pretty consistent MSM point that Trump was cruising before COVID. He was clearly not. He was polling at Biden numbers near the end of 2019 lol.

Dems were polling incredibly well in November 2019 against Trump.

They actually think it was because of mean tweets and not because Trump was a poor president…

I see where a large Nikki Haley PAC has thrown their support to Harris. In the states where Haley got 10-30% of the primary vote….. could be trouble for Trump if they actually vote for Harris. Trump can’t tolerate 10-30% votes swing to other side.

Will likely end up being a white male with foreign policy experience and in a swing state... preferably a governor= Shapiro (PA)
Maybe but John King’s comments were interesting & I don’t attribute that to him as he converted to Judaism when married to Dana Bash but he seemed to think having a Jew on the ticket would be controversial.

Trump was polling low right out of the gate after inauguration so it’s not like he was ever over 50%. He was the beneficiary of two highly unlikable candidates on the ballot & that’s what it looked like in 2020 as well. IMO, it looked worse b/c (I can’t believe I’m saying this) Hillary is a far better candidate than Biden. Evidently the Dems thought he was the 2nd coming but I took it as a white flag from the Dems because he’s always been a joke and that included in Dem circles. How close you think Biden & Obama are and most Americans love or at least respect Obama.

I never said Trump had a post-9/11 boost like W just that it looked he would win reelection until COVID. In other words, he couldn’t afford anything to go wrong to have a shot at reelection yet he did & he mishandled it. Just like in 2016 Trump had a path to an EC win before COVID. I mean when you combine Trumps low ratings & COVID being mishandled by him (in the eyes of most Americans including myself) he still almost won the damn thing. Lol.

We‘ve both lived through a lot of “existential threats” and America has survived. Are we gonna forget all the horrible events/people we’ve had in America’s history? I agree a lot of people believe he truly is that threat (incl on this board) but the bogeyman stuff wore off on me when I hit my 40s. How much can a POTUS even get done? They all found out the hard way that it’s not very much.

This doesn’t really clarify what you had thought I was not being honest on.

The polls weren’t really showing him doing well in the vast majority; outside of the most generous polls he was in a very bad spot pre-COVID.

Reading the study you linked pretty much sums up the pretty widely accepted fact that Trump was unlikely to win even before COVID.

2012 Biden wipes the floor with all of them. Go watch him make Paul Ryan look like an 8th grader during their VP debate. Father Time is just undefeated.

….Big Gretch should just be the nominee. A Gretch/Beshear ticket would be incredible.
