It makes sense. ND has proven that they're gonna hit their major needs hard, and probably successfully, when they go after an NIL/transfer prospect.
Next offseason's biggest need for an instant contributor will be DT, as you're losing two long-time contributors in Cross and Mills.
NIL means you don't have to go into 2025 hoping one of the youngsters with limited snaps is ready to be The Man. You can bring a guy that's already done it, and ease the other guys in.
One interesting nugget I caught from power hour this week while Mike and Jamie were talking about this recruiting class and nil. The perpetually grumpy frank flat out said he's not worried about nil anymore.
He clearly knows something he isn't allowed to come out and share, but suffice to say, ND won't often be outbid. I don't think that means we're handing out bags to come, but players know they're getting paid when they enroll.
Come to think of it, when is the last time we lost a coach due to only money? I realize we're not that far from the Ludwig fiasco (which sounds like there was more at play) but I'm digging the new ND approach.
