The whole context matters. Michael Brown died a robbery suspect after charging a police officer. Intentional and reckless lies around his death led to chaos and damage to the community.

Reading the article, it doesn't sound like they will have much luck getting compensated via the courts. I didn't know until I read the article that homeowner policies have a clause where the insurance company doesn't have to pay in situations like this. These people are probably screwed.
