I get it, but I’m going to need to see one of these guys play up to, or outplay their ranking once they get to college before I reconsider my opinion. The competition is so terrible, it seems like even the kids who completely dominate the state end up way behind once they step foot on a college campus. There will always be exceptions, but they are just that, rare exceptions.
I think you have a weird dynamic there where most of the public schools aren't very good at football, with a few exceptions in the wealthy NYC-suburb southwestern corner of the state (where Drew Pyne is from, basically). There don't seem to be a lot of good Catholic schools either, which is unusual for this part of the country. And then you have these private/boarding schools that do attract some talented players - some from elsewhere - but the competition they play in the New England private leagues is really uneven. So similar to the Boston-area private school recruits, they can be hard to project.

That said, Michigan, for instance, has pulled some good players out of Connecticut (and Mass.) in recent years. Their WR Cornelius Johnson would've been nice to have on our team the last couple years, for one.

As long as we don't stop recruiting Alaska and Rhode Island, we'll be fine.

Coaching staffs typically recruit players, not states right? There are hundreds of players in Texas every year but you aren't going to want or need them all.

If there is another Christian Wilkins or Josh Jobe in CT, you offer and recruit him like any intelligent adult would.

Shoulda stopped at Alaska or put in a disclaimer for Bishop Hendricken in RI since it's produced:

Jason Onye + Xavier Truss and a BIGGIE that got away... Kwity Pay

I grew up in CT. Public schools were and still are garbage. Prep has produced some players but not as many as they should for being Prep. It has improved leaps and bounds in the last 15 or so years.

When you can't exclude a murderer from "best public school players from CT" lists, your state is pretty bare. Better than Montana though.

Also, I don't think much bad could be said of the late CT great Asaph Schwapp

Outside of UConn and maybe Boston College, I highly doubt anyone is laser focused on recruiting Connecticut from corner to corner as a high school football state. That being said, if they happen to pop off a Top 300 guy here or there from within their borders, you'd best believe all the It Means More programs will be up there calling along with Ohio State, USC, etc.

The Connecticut prep schools have made a massive jump recently. Just plucked a local kid

Go to the 13:58 mark and check out Slenderman. Dude's an alien.

Not gonna lie, it pisses me off that a mediocre program like Miami can get multiple 5-star recruits, that they have no business getting given their on-field performance, just because they drop bags.

And what’s funny is that they will continue to be average.

If Iowa St dropped the same bags would it work?

Besides the money, Miami has blue blood history, attractive institutional culture from the players that came out in the last 40 years and your right next to Little Havana and South Beach. Freeman or Dan Lanning would be unstoppable there... (on the recruiting trail)

Super Mario is 12-13 overall, 0-2 against FSU.

They drop bags but when it comes to Saturdays in autumn they drop deuces when it matters.
