This seems very surprising. Hit and hustle just talked last week about his plans to get to campus soon and how he was a “must get” for the ‘25 class?

ISD had been saying that Auburn was big here. Maybe a surprise that he picked them so soon but not a surprise it is Auburn.

Not surprised in the end result, but I was expecting him to make a decision in April, not February.

Definitely sucks, but he's not a "must get". ND is in very good shape at corner with Thomas in fold and in a great spot to land Golden and Zackery.

With Devin Williams out I hope they go harder for Trey McNutt in his place as well as that other Georgia CB that just blew up.

A "dynamic" speedy athlete in the secondary is definitely a "must". Something all the type teams have plenty of in rotation. Thomas has below average quicks and Golden and Zackery are certainly above average, but we need the dynamic guys at some point unless more of the same against the elites.

Kid from the south commits to a school in the south that has clearly upped their spending and it’s surprising? Did you guys just start following recruiting?

His Dad was my coach at W and J. I would be shocked if he goes anywhere outside Columbus.

This would be a miss if Dallas Golden and Mark Zackery weren't both CB'd here at corner. Not to mention, Chuck McDonald and Jahmir Joseph have visits lined up too. Now if they miss on those, we have problems.

I usually like ISD's takes but I can't imagine calling someone from Buford High School a "must get" in this day and age.

The context here is that they were basically using the term "must get" as a way to frame players that they thought were elite.

I don't think they were using it in the same terms as a player that Notre Dame couldn't afford to miss out on. Also worth pointing out that both mentioned Dallas Golden before i think Jamie pivoted to Williams so that they both wouldn't have the same answer.

I think both Zackery and Golden are better prospects than Williams, not to say Williams wouldn’t be a take even if we land both. Always find the spot for the corners that can be elite, just like you always find the spot for the edge rusher that can be elite

Golden is absolutely a dynamic speedy athlete. Dude's film is loaded with explosive plays and his speed and athleticism is off the chart, on top of being a bigger body than Williams.

When I think of "must get", it's a guy who if ND misses out on, that creates a hole in the class or they are taking a noticeable downgrade at the position. If ND lands Zackery and Golden, neither is really the case.

That isn't to downplay Williams. I think he's a crazy talented player, and I'd definitely want him in the class. Just, it's not a back breaker.
