This hire is fine in a vacuum but not in the context of what the offense desperately needs
Exactly. He’s probably a good coach. We don’t just need a good WR coach.

We’re going to need help designing an entire offense with a lot of new personnel.

What did and did not work this year might be very different than what does next year. And, Marcus “Challenge Everything” Freeman keeps the offesnive staff the same except swaps out Stuckey for Brown.

We’re good guys. There is no doubt about it, he’s challenged.

You all know I’m biased (Go Bearcats).

This is a good hire. Cincy’s WR room generally had a bunch of two and three star guys, and generally over-performed under Fickell based on that.

Partly because Brown is a decent coach, but also because Brown (and Denbrock/Gino) knew how to find their profile. Tre Tucker and Tyler Scott were burners that just didn’t get by on speed… they got coached up, but it helped that they also had game speed that was appropriately scouted and then translated.

Pierce was a dude ND should have recruited… another good scout and development project for Brown.

I can’t speak for Wiscy’s WR’s this past year, but I saw 4 years of solid development and overachieving from Cincy’s WR’s.

Like @IrishLax said… enjoy a Sunday night beverage and pretend this dude is Mickens for WR’s. He could be based on what I’ve seen, at least as a best case.

Also, he got the AHC co-title to go to Wiscy, so he probably had other power-5 options last year.

I have no opinion of this guy. Never heard of him until today. Sounds like good news that Cam likes the hire. Sounds like good news that Fickell made him asst. HC. I did read that he played WR in the league. I'll wait to judge or pretend I know squat until I learn more about him.

That’s my thing. There was no world where they got either of them, which means it was down to a list of unknowns.

Again another Parker situation. I remember when Kelly hire friends and we weren’t doing much better and people lost their shit on here.

So you’re saying ND should have gotten Hartline to take a demotion or Shepherd to leave a team playing for the national championship? What would be your plan for making those two things that aren’t going to happen happen?

Damn, not only do the players deserve better, MF deserves better! For a brand new HC, he's doing everything in his power to have to rebuild with a HC stint in the MAC. 8- 4 next year with that schedule, is he fired? With Parker and these hires, he's becoming pretty unlikable fast.

I never said that. Actually I said if you thought we were getting one of them you were shooting up some good heroin.

We have an offensive coordinator that’s not good so we needed a difference maker at WR. This has the comfort hire all over it.

But we’ll see.

Again like I said at least the recruits like it.

People were hoping for the bigger names because they wanted to pair it with a demotion of the OC.
Has anything given anyone any reason for that? Seems pretty clear that MF identified the WR room as the limiting factor in what they were trying to do as an offense. I honestly have no idea what goes into their game planning or play design. I guess we will find out quickly.
