Texas has to be ahead of Bama, I don't see how you avoid that. That means Bama at 4, Texas at 3. So Georgia would be out.

To be clear, I doubt that Texas would beat Bama or Georgia now, although its not a slam-dunk, but its one of those 'otherwise why play the games' situations.

Automatically putting one team ahead of another just because they won months before is nonsense. Yes, the results count, but they're not the ONLY factor. What about the trajectory of the two teams since? What about how they're both playing 90 days later? What about their overall body of work? What about team A beats team B who beats team C who beats team A (a rather common occurrence in conference play)? How are you going to rank each of them ahead of the teams they beat? You can't. Head-to-head is important, but it's only one of many data points in the equation and when it happens early in the season, it's not as important.

As much as I'd love that, I want Michigan to burn. I don't want them getting a freebie against a Travis-less FSU squad.

And this is why I lose interest in college football this time of year. Committees over results on the field. Like watching gymnastics or some other judged event. Luckily this will get fixed next year. Off to watch the NFL, EPL, or portal drama.

UGA should be out because it doesn’t matter anymore what they did when Stetson Bennett was their QB. Texas needs to be ranked over Bama because they’re both 1 loss major conference champs and UT has the head to head win. I hope UL wins, because I think it will be bad to leave out an undefeated P5 champ, but FSU is weak without Travis.
