*cracks knuckles* Porker wasn’t that bad tonight. Every drive that stalled was a product of drops or bad decisions by Sam. I guess execution ultimately falls on him too, and when I say he wasn’t that bad, I don’t want my statement to get confused as saying he was good. He wasn’t.

Of the last 4 games, this is tied for the least frustrating with Ohio State. Not a great game but you got to understand game flow as an OC. And our D was killing them. This was a "do no harm" game...and the players needed to execute better

Won by 28 with 251 yards. Lol
Well, turnovers and field position had a lot to do with that. What was ND’s longest drive? 60 yards? I’m thinking the Sam to Tyree TD pass (which was a great call, it cleared the safeties from the middle of the field on Tyree’a post route).

We should be airing it out like this regularly. The WRs have plenty of one-on-one opportunities. Hopefully we'll see more of that with Greathouse and Thomas healthy

Sometimes you need to throw the ball to establish the run

Something needs to change at the break. But what? They're obviously not bringing anyone in at this point. I don't care about titles, but Parker can't call plays anymore. It's just not working. Put Gino up there for the rest of the season since we didn't have the wherewithall to have anyone else on staff with significant play calling experience I guess. Get to the off-season and figure out what to do with Parker then, but can't drop anymore games because of subpar play calling.

Particularly the target over the top to Evans. That pass should have gone underneath the coverage to Staes. Rather than an incompletion, it would have been a 15-20 yard pickup minimum. Bad decision on Sam's part, but still glad he's on OUR side!

It’s sad when we have to say “wasn’t that bad” when the defense he went up against is awful and his offense only put up 250 yards. If people can claim the team loses confidence in MF, thus plays bad, we can say the offense has no faith in him and plays bad.

USC gave uo 32 first downs and 564 yards to Colorado.

12 first downs and 250 yards by our offense with two NFL tackles, QB, and our RB is beyond pathetic

Yards are a pointless metric last night when the team had a short field on 6 possessions because of 4 of the 5 turnovers and 2 4th down stops.

I can't believe you guys have me defending this shit OC. You can't cite 564 yards for Colorado when even if Notre Dame took every single yard available to them last night, there wasn't that many yards available. In a vacuum, he was fine last night. In the context of Louisville and Duke, it's still highly concerning. No point in beating a dead horse.

This comparison is so disingenuous though. USC lead the entire game against Colorado. Colorado ran 90 plays that game and played as fast as they could.

ND lead the entire game against USC and only ran 49 offensive plays to USCs 74. We obviously did not play fast when we had the ball to keep their offense off the field.

For comparison Sanders threw the ball in that game as many times as ND had total plays last night, but just about every time we needed a play we were able to make it. Whether is be the lone play action TD to Tyree or the ability to turn the short fields into TDs and not FGs.

506 yards and 28 first downs vs Arizona.

21 first downs for a terrible Arizona State. Colorado was just one example.

Arizona 77 plays 6.5 yards/play
Colorado 90 plays 6.2 yards/play
Arizona State 71 plays 5.0 yards/play
Stanford 66 plays 5.3 yards/play
Nevada 72 plays 5.0 yards/play
SJSU 66 plays 6.0 yards/play

ND 49 plays 5.1 yards/play. Hardly possibly to even compare because of the situations.

Having a lower YPP on offense than Stanford did against USC is very, very bad.

It's hardly comparable because of the situational football of last night. Stanford lost 56-10. It was 56-3 with 5 minutes left. They had a 80 yard touchdown drive against USC's backups. In the first half (assuming SC still had their starters in, though it was 49-3 at the half and I'm not going to look that hard), they had 132 yards for 4 yards/play.

They gotta fix some shit in the bye week because they have no identity; don't execute; and don't produce. Insane how much the defense is carrying this team when that wasn't really expected coming into the season.

All I could think yesterday was how much of a Willingham win that was.

The offense is still dog shit. ND has had a grueling last four weeks, and this bye week is coming at a great time. They need to recalibrate whatever the hell it is that they call an offense right now.

And the times they had to put together drives, they couldn’t muster anything. It’s still a problem. It’s okay to point that out. It’s also okay to defend him.

Total plays were on nd… came out after half, 6 plays 7 yards… not all on Parker of course but it’s his offense

Guys thinking Parker is getting demoted this season are on crack. Maybe these first 8 games are a step in Parker learning and growing. 🤔

Second half of the season O performance after the bye is huge for this team and Parker’s future.

Last post for me on the Gerry subject. I share the same sentiments about him that you all have. I am just willing to give him a fair shake at redemption heading into the final 4 games because there's a decent possibility that their outcomes are much more similar to the first 4 games due the receivers getting healthy and softer defenses than these previous 4 games.

He doesn't need to be fired but he shouldn't be calling plays next year. Again, find someone with experience and do what it takes. I continue to believe that if ND had paid for Ludwig (or found someone else with lots of experience after that fell through) we would be 8-0. We might have been up 21-10, or 24-10 vs. OSU for example, rather than 14-10. Or maybe we're still only up 14-10 but just call better plays late. Win that game with better play-calling and the Duke and UL games are different, too. Maybe we'd have one loss (UL outplayed us, OSU did not until the end) but not two.

I agree he's not getting an in-season demotion, but most of us will be very disappointed if he's the OC again next year. I appreciate your loyalty and patience, but I think Freeman should look for an upgrade in the offseason

I’d at least bring in a Paul Chryst type for an analyst position next year if they can
Yes. At minimum he needs someone spelling out tendencies and %s. Hell the board has almost done that for him but it's not registering.
