Mike Martin. anybody heard about this guy? i think omar is staying for sure, but would still like to see this guy offered. dont know if he has been offered yet. state champion wrestler, also state shot put or discus i heard. has been committed to michigan, but is talking around after coaching change. he is from a catholic school. i would really like to see us solidifiy our line on both sides of the ball, closing with at least one more commit from each side, o and d. i guess i believe we are pretty solid at the skill positions, all i worry about is the line. wouldnt mind getting Deion Walker though. just wondering what you guys think.

I'm hearing that ND is starting to go very hard after Mike Martin. A highly ranked DT commited to UM. If I had to guess I'd say this has quite a bit to do with Omar Hunter.
I thought it's come out that while Martin was wavering somewhat due to turmoil at UM, things have calmed down with the hiring of RR......and that he stated he is solid with UM.

Yeah, that's true as well but I just thought I'd throw it in because ND tends to go after kids at a program where there's been a coaching change and it looks like the entire UM defensve staff will be gone so I wouldn't count Corwin Brown out just yet. But like you said it'll probably end up being all for nothing in the end.

My Uncle said there was something about him on the 4HL, but Irishillustrated won't load on my computer so I can't see what it is. It's news on Omar.

Mike Farrel is saying that Charlie will drop Hunter if he takes his visit to FL. Good to see Charlie is sticking to his word. That makes it tough for Hunter Although I still don't think he is going anywhere.

you think charlie will simply pull the offer? i guess if he is looking for kids to commit and be two feet in he needs to show his recruits he means biz. it would be sweet if omar was Irish but if he's going to mess around and ride the fence then we can't afford to get burned again this year. charlie has to make an example out of somebody. big drama for sure.

I think he should stick to his guns too. "If they are looking, we are looking"

I agree that CW should make an example out of it. I'd love to see Omar wear the blue and gold, but we will survive if he doesn't.

i dont think he should completely pull the offer. Omar might be looking but hes still looking at ND. Charlie should go to Hunter and say if you take the visit to Florida i want to know if your staying at ND or leaving. I just dont think you can drop someone of his caliber because he wants to make the right choice. Besides just because he might go to Florida doesnt mean he will decommit. Also hes almost garunteed to start here next year at FL he will compete with other good DTs and another highly touted incoming freshman in Forston.

Omar's schollie will not be dropped if he visits. He will be treated like every other non-commit at this point. If he signs, he signs, if another NT commits first, then they get it.

I agree. It is totally incomprehensible to me that the offer would get pulled. CW has held offers for recruits before. I don't see why Omar would be any different.

I actually don't particularly like this story being released (even if it is true). It does not make CW sound like an understanding person. I hope that this isn't Farrell simply trying to make news for himself. We know that it has happened before (with the "position switch" for Greg Little).

i hope after talking and hanging with Braxton all week, Big O will remember what he is a part of and that he should go to ND

Irish93, Charlie has stated that before anyone commits to the Irish this year and beyond they will be told to make sure before you commit. Because once you commit then your telling Charlie and the rest of the staff your done with recruiting. If your not sure don't commit, because if you start looking Charlie and the staff will be out trying to fill that spot. I don't see the problem with that or Charlie pulling the offer this late in the game if Omar visits Fla. or any other school.

I think that the view is if "you're looking, we're looking." I don't think that means pulling an offer. That sends bad vibes to a recruit -- if you don't commit to us, we're going to pull your offer. I don't think that is the message that the staff wants to send.

I think CW/CB treating Omar as a non-commit is wise. Keep recruiting him hard, while continuing to look at other options.

There is a USC poster on DD who originally said 80% chance of Omar going to Florida. Now, he is saying it is only MLTN (i.e. 51%). I like that trend. Hopefully, whatever Urban initially sold Omar on is wearing off.

i agree. it's easy for a kid to get caught up in the hype etc but as he speaks to more and more people a better picture emerges.

For what it is worth, his myspace profile is still covered in ND stuff.
Not sure if I can put the link on here. FYI, I did not contact him or anything so there is no recruting violation.

They are also saying that the reason BGI is saying Omar won't be Irish is because he hasn't come out puplically to put down the rumors he's going to visit Fla. If he is rooming with Braxton this week it could help the Irish alot. I just hope whatever Omar decides to do he does it soon. I don't want this dragging on until signing day. I don't think the Irish sites will be able to stand waiting that long.

The major coach not wanting an early signing period is Urban Meyer.....he enjoys stealing recruits already committed and is becoming quite proficient at it. With the advent of a coaching change at FSU, whenever that occurs, he will find recruiting in Fl. just a bit more difficult.

Omar!

Omar!

He apparently has fallen for the BS that Urban is putting out.....as evidenced by his silence on the info circulating on the webb. But, it's not over til the fat lady sings. Now everyone should understand the real reason that Urban is opposed to an early signing period....he enjoys stealing commits from other schools.
