Duke knows the Irish WRs suck. You have to find other ways to get the ball outside. Running Estime smack into run blitzes ain't it. No middle screens in the playback? Can't drag WRs into the vacated space? A fucking slant route once or twice? Jet sweeps? Pitches? Flare the RB out?

I saw none of that.

Also before the last drive, ND WRs had 3 receptions for 32 yards. Yikes.

I was six beers in & knew what the offense was going to do on almost every play. Parker needs to learn & grow from this.

I think many of us underestimated the losses of Thomas and Greathouse along with Duke's defense being much better than I expected. What a great drive at the end of the game. Hartman and Evans literally saved this season. Need Thomas and Greathouse back asap

TBF, Greathouse was injured late in the week. One injury should alter a game plan I know. But considering the depth and circumstances, I am sure that mattered a fair bit.

My hope is that ND staff thought they could beat Duke w/o Greathouse so let’s rest him and ensure he’s ready for SC. After tonight, they’re probably thinking they’ll need him for Louisville.

On the subject of refs: Am I totally blind or was the ball on the picked up flag clearly catchable? I understand Tobias didn't do a great job fighting back through the CB (AGAIN), but it bounced within five yards of Tobias for shits sake.

I think it was catchable but Tobias was giving zero effort in working back towards it. Hard to argue that the defender was impeding his path to the ball.

Considering the WR options, our pass game playcalling was not at all creative. No screens or wheel routes to RBs or anything. All the stuff we did to slice up NC State when they sold out the run was not present tonight. Thank God for Mitchell Evans. And Tobias Merriweather is just Not Good At Wide Receivering.

Completely agree.

Remember the screen we tried to run to Price to end the game against OSU? We could have ran that at ANY point tonight and didn’t even try. Get the ball to your athletes, which are currently the RB’s with the WR injury situation.

Merriweather really doesn't have the greatest hands or effort fighting for balls. Just sucks with his physical gifts. He's not reliable when targeted for passes. Tonight would have been perfect for him to have a great game. Suppose Braylon James isn't ready yet.

We fucking won. When ND plays I still feel the same butterflies I did when I was 10. Hartman’s run, Dric’s run, shit felt the same as it did way back then. Any day ND wins is a good fucking day, no matter how we get there.

I was at the game. I will fully post my thoughts tomorrow. All I will say is we sat next to the student section and all we heard was "fuck you Irish" for 3:30 hours. Just screaming it over and over. Totally classless. Someone through a beer can at my 77 year old dads head for no reason, and saw two fights leaving simply because ND one. Duke fans are as bad as Ohio States. They should be embarrassed. A ton of ND fans were in the stadium. The whole visited side basically had green on so Duke can fuck off. I hated them before but now I despise them. They are a trash ass football program.

Parker seems like a good man. A good influence. I’ve always been very impressed with him off the field. But, he’s not a serious play caller or offensive coordinator.

No one likes Duke except Duke grads. They attract all the elites from the Northeast who think it’s cool to go to a southern school. Duke is the Myrtle Beach of academic schools.

I don’t go back in re-watch anymore but live I felt like we had some good initial blocking upfront but those damn plays took so long to get off.

All they needed to do, which they did early in the season, was get Hartman under C so Estime could get downhill sooner.
