Just screwing around this morning with some season predictions.

WR predictions:
Thomas 44 rec/651y/8 TD
Tyree 37 rec/629y/8 TD
Merriweather 36 rec/720y/5 TD
Greathouse 23 rec/299y/4 TD
Colzie 26 rec/390y/3 TD
Rico 19 rec/377y/1 TD
Salerno 19 rec/228y/2 TD

450y from RB receptions, 5 TD
300y from TE production, 2 TD

Places Hartman at 3484y, which with this RB room, seems high. Throwing for 38 TD. I'll say 9 INTs.
I would sign up for that.

I think Salerno and colzie down, Thomas and greathouse up

I'd be shocked if the production from the TEs was that low.

It'd be the lowest by far since 2015, when our only productive TEs were Durham Smythe and Nic Weisher. No disrespect to them, but I think this group is WAY more talented and deeper, even with the loss of Bauman. Smythe has turned in a very respectable NFL career, but I wouldn't say he was elite by any stretch, and Weisher was simply solid. Evans looks like a good all-around TE, while Staes and a healthy Raridon, I think have elite potential.

I don't expect any of them to put up 800 yards like Mayer did, but I do think 500+ overall is reasonable.

The passing game will be fine, for the most part. Plenty of talent, and college football largely is lacking elite corners. With Hartman + ND’s offensive line, the receivers (and tight ends) should have plenty of time to get open.

ETA: ND has a couple of tune up games to work the kinks out as well before heading to Raleigh.
Sounds great.

Not a huge fan of Hartman being a captain, but oh well.

Michael Vinson, Chris Tyree, Jack Kiser were all great candidates

I hear you, because he's new, but also he seems to be such a natural leader, and he's a grown-ass-man quarterback. I'm not sure how you don't name him one.

I haven't a clue who should be captain. You'd have to be at every off season workout, every group text, every practice to know. So I'll never feel I should know better than the team/coaches, so I guess I'll never care who captains are. People change, grow, lead at different times.

Hartman being named a Captain is a heck of a lot better than Caleb Williams being named a Heisman trophy winner. I’d absolutely love it for ND to have someone named a Heisman winner, but I don’t take too much stock in it anymore after some of the latest clowns they’ve given it to.

I have no statistical proof of this but I’d guess when ND’s QB is a captain it’s a more successful year than when not.

Any particular reason? No hate. Legit curious.

It’s no hate on Hartman. I’m a huge fan and love that he’s our QB.

But I look at a guy like Chris Tyree. He hasn’t been able to live up to the expectations that recruiting sites, and fans, put on him. I don’t think he was utilized correctly by Rees. He had every reason to transfer. What does he do? Moves to receiver and works his ass off in the offseason to make sure he’s an asset in the passing game. Now he’s basically a guaranteed starter and one of Hartman’s favorite targets.

I think some people take guys like Tyree for granted. Players like Chris Tyree and Avery Davis are hard to find these days.

Great take. I also tip my cap to Tyree and others who stick it out and try to find some role to help the team / get on the field. Unfortunately, in today’s day and age, too many kids don’t honor their commitment, throw in the towel and quit, or transfer when things aren’t immediately going there way.

If anything, we as fans should be thrilled with the fact that there is enough quality in the character of players on this team that there is a good list of candidates for being captains. You don't need a C on your jersey to be a leader.

Agree 100%. AD had every opportunity to bail, but hung in and did whatever was asked of him. Hope the move to receiver will pay off for both Tyree and the team.
