Greeny is probably the most notable and visible NU alumni in the sports journalism world (edit: Wilbon right there, too). His silence speaks volumes, IMO.
I realize he attended Northwestern. Is his reaction of any consequence to what comes next in the process?

Can't see NU going with a hard-ass type coach like Chryst. They'll want a more presentable, calmly spoken type who puts culture first

Danny Kanell dug in too.

It's all about the players, the coaches overseeing the players should not face repercussions.

I think you give Chris Creighton from EMU a look. Northwestern is a Power Five job, yes, but the names being thrown around here seem too big for NU.

Just go back and hire Gary Barnett. He was the originator of their (limited) success.

Oh wait...didn't he have some sort of sexual abuse scandal while at CU? Never mind.

Coach O.....wait probably not good idea....LOL.

I don't know. After reading about all the weirdo shit going on there, maybe he's precisely what that program needs.

Do these people not realize that the reason he got fired is that the hazing was sexual in nature and could be a crime with significant liability/exposure to the school?

If players were getting paddled by their teammates or the equivalent then no one would give a shit. When you start getting naked and violating people it's a big deal.

If it gets him out of the NBC booth, I'm down with that.

Maybe he can take Jac Collinsworth with him as his media guy.
Jac ain't awful, he's just not Tirico. It's hard following the best in the business. He's better than Hammond for sure.
Garrett can definitely take off.

Jac's voice is like finger nails on a chalkboard. He's not a network quality play by play guy.

Think Lea would leave Vandy for the wildcats?
I'll guess no.

We're in mid July. They are going to have to name an interim and move forward. They've fumbled this so badly that I don't know how they can possibly put one foot in front of the other to hire someone like Ken N. from Navy or Chryst.

In no order I'm spitballing five names outside of the obvious guys like Mendenhall, Shaw, Chryst, etc. who are not employed currently:

Chris Creighton EMU
Jeff Monken Army
Lance Leipold KU
Bob Chesney Holy Cross
Chuck Martin Miami OH

The racism component is also a part of this now. It makes a bad situation with the hazing far worse.

So yes, you would work for these two idiots.
There are plenty of guys who would take the job as it could be their one and only time a HC opportunity presents itself to them. Besides, there are plenty of students and alumni at schools that think their current president and AD are idiots.

From a legal perspective, and if Fitzgerald pushes it, wouldn’t we have to start hearing names of players engaged in these activities? Can Pat Fitzgerald build a case to protect his buyout if there are no charges dropped on players? Or other coaches? Or himself?
