Was curious if anyone heard how he is doing? I was kind of absent from IE during his recruitment.

I’m a jr high school coach, coach some at high school age as well in the past. I had an opportunity to coach Justin on a Chicago area all star team that completed down in Florida for a post season tournament. I was DC for the team. Team had chemistry issues and that stemmed from the messaging of some of the coaches. But Justin was good kid, good athlete, wasn’t the source of our problems.

He played an LB/DB hybrid Rover type position for me during the tournament. I’m actually surprised he ended up playing D, he was more focused on being an offensive player at the time. Though he didn’t hate defense, at the time he seemed to more enthusiastic about playing offensive side of the ball. Part of it was he wanted to play corner / safety and we had other kids who could play those spots, our LB situation was lacking by all star team standards. To his credit he did play the Rover type spot because I asked him to and told him we needed him there.

Anyway I realize 3 star Freshman usually don’t play much but just curious how he was doing since I briefly coached him for like a month.

Was Walters the answer at S? Likely not. But, that S depth chart for 2024 and beyond looks scary. S has been one of the most important position groups to recruit for the last two cycles and it hasn't been going well. By far the most important position in the 2024 class. Not sure it's close. They're going to need guys that can play and play early.

Had a Junior Jabbie-esque performance in his first Spring game in '21, I think it was, with an INT and a couple of passes defensed. Looked like a future ballhawk... and then just never actually did anything.

Boy, good thing we have a proven, dynamite recruiter for a safety coach.

If oleary can’t start to actually recruit he’s got to go. Thank goodness we have a converted wide receiver this year
