It will be interesting to see what happens. Biden's Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen initially said people wouldn't get a bailout. Now she's saying people will have access to their money. They also shutdown Signature Bank who they think was on the verge of collapsing. 90% of accounts at SVB are above the $250,000 FDIC guarantee.
Not surprising. The amount of money and the hubris that goes along with that has reached insane levels in the Bay Area.

People who complain about how “woke” or whatever the place is miss the mark in that it’s largely controlled by a bunch of libertarian leaning (until shit like this happens), big business (tech and finance) assholes.

Fair but would’ve been wise to fill their Risk Management role instead of focusing on DEI. Not saying they couldn’t do both but their first priority (like it or not) is shareholders & they failed by not monitoring the risk of the purchase of Treasury Bonds when it was pretty obvious interest rates would be rising thus tanking the bonds.

Which part of her bio do you think makes her a bad fit? Obviously post-SVB she's untouchable but I can't seem to find the holes in her pre-SVB resume.

If you're referring to the UK head of risk - plenty of firms have CSR initiatives. A client of mine, one of the largest EMD's in Toronto makes it a part of their monthly directors meetings to speak about inclusivity and community initiatives they are taking part in.

(If they end up in the news my statement to any alt right reporter - no I will not comment on them)

So many companies tout themselves as woke people caring, concerned companies when they're in it for the profit. People buy it hook, line and sinker all the time. Starbucks is a good example. They're facing strikes and unionization because they don't want to pay, yet they charge $2.65 for a small regular coffee.

At initial glance her BIO looks impressive. Then I thought, why so many jobs? A little deeper dive shows she was hired in January. From this statement in Fortune.com it looks like they closed the barn doors after the horse got out. No reason given in the article why Izurieta stepped down

Laura Izurieta stepped down from her role as CRO of SVB Financial Group in April 2022, and formally departed the company in October, according to an SVB proxy filing. The bank appointed her permanent successor as CRO, Kim Olson, in January of this year.

It is unclear how the bank managed risks in the interim period between the departure of one CRO and appointment of another.

Looking back - I think I missed the first point of Dodgers post. I thought he was questioning her hire, but it looks like it was more that they allowed the UK risk officer to lead pride initiatives than finding a new CRO.

Probably a parody. But with Trump, you sit there and ask yourself, "could've he posted something like that?" The answer is always yes.

Not a parody. It’s his own Truth account.
I scrolled through his "truths" from the past 4 days and didn't see it.

If its his and I missed it...LMAO

But it seems like one of those "too good to be true" statements that anyone with a computer could make.

It’s too late Fox your hood has been showing for years.
You should read more history. The Klan is a Democrat-founded group. Few if any Republicans ever belonged to the Klan and wore their hoods. That was a Robert Byrd, George Wallace, 100% Democrat-associated group.

Wow, an entire article and premise based on one anecdotal story. Not a single backing statistic in sight.
There are tons of articles and studies that show racial bias in home values and with 90% of the people doing them being white is no surprise to anyone. It’s like one of the most well known issues with minorities buying houses. Lmaooo. Google minority people home values. Have fun.
It’s so well known that it would be like someone mentioning gravity in a space article but not citing all the papers showing gravity exists. Haha.

Today, not a single member of the KKK (or similar hate groups) is a Democrat.

Yes hah as far as I know. Haven’t seen anything otherwise. He has been posting stuff like this for a few weeks now. Getting more and more insane.

Just kidding it’s parody…… or is it?

I think ascribing political ideas to a large brick and motor store shutting down a location or two is a convenient way for people to put their own spin on it. Large box office locations are moving out of cities all over the place. For reference, Toronto's worst neighborhood has an Audi/Benz dealership in it. They certainly experience theft/vandalism at higher rates than other dealerships but if they were to close it would be over a business decision rather than political motive.

Specifically to Portland - this article is stating that the police budget is back up to higher rates than it was in 2020, so if we're going to say defunding the police is contributing then it would have to be related to the 2021 budget decrease.

When I look at the crime data for Portland - there was 5,573 offenses is Jan 2018 and 5,883 in Jan 2023. Which is a 5.5% increase in gross offenses. Based on these population trend, it seems like Portland averages an increase of around 1% in pop growth. So basically it seems like crime rates appear to be increasing at comparable population increases. The data does show a spike in crime in 2021, but did Wal Mart shutdown their stores in 2021? No, they didn't.

So what has significantly changed in the past 5 years in Wal Mart's ecospace? The prominence of online selling and reduction of store space. I think it's easier to explain that Wal Mart is shutting these locations down to accommodate for those shifts.

If you look at their annual report, they have been consistently decreasing their retail square feet metrics. Unfortunately we can't see what their inventory provision stats look like or shrinkage to see what $ of theft is happening.

Day 6 of the facts and logic crew not supporting their argument.

You mean the Civil Rights Act that the Democrats filibustered? That one? No, the racists didn't flee to the Republican party. You can't just make up stuff to dodge the ugly truth of your party's history. They founded the Klan. They made up virtually all of its members. Your party elected a former Klan leader as Majority Leader of the US Senate and he remained a lifelong Democrat. Same with George Wallace. He was a Democrat when he was pushing segregation and standing in the door blocking black students from enrolling in college, and he remained a Democrat until the day he died.

Poor bish can’t accept the Southern Strategy that was employed by the GOP to coral all the disaffected conservative Democrats after LBJ left them behind

This is a great article complete with its origins in the 60s growth during the 70s and adaptations in the 80s through the 10s
Who founded the Klan, Cack? Who dominated its leadership and membership throughout its history? You're accusing those you don't like of wearing Klan hoods, yet your beloved party is the one who founded the Klan and controlled it for almost all its existence. A bit hypocritical and intentionally obtuse of you, don't you think?

You continue to conveniently ignore the undisputed fact that hate groups like the Klan, in the year 2023 and for the last 50 something years, have been made up entirely of Republican voters (if they even vote.)

It seems to be photoshopped. Unless the individual screenshot it before he deleted it.

I'm leaning towards it being fake. If real, huge Trump L... but it wasn't on his account today or the past several days (first time I ever googled his truth account lol).

The Klan lost all power/influence when the GOP started competing in the South.

As of 2017, there is an estimated 3K members. In a country of 330 million people. Mock them, laugh at them, etc. They are dorks society has ostracized.
