It is if you want to make it clear the Head Coach doesn't run the program and that they answer to you. This is a genuine question, but is it normal to hire lower level assistants first? Swarbrick seems to love to do this - ie Tommy before Marcus, and now Gino before any OC. Anyone with knowledge of this process know if this is normal at all?
Nothing to do with your post other than you brought Streeter up. I think it is quite odd that his name has not been attached to any open opportunities out there.I think we’ve let recent events shift our baseline here. Gino I’m sure is a fine QB Coach. But just because he’s not as bad at his job as we think Parker could be as OC doesn’t mean I’m satisfied with just taking the UC QB Coach here. ND should want the Longo, the Streeters of the world. Not settle for who is below them.
We would have crucified BK for this.
I think this is going to be a great hire
*ducks*
Well, no one is official yet. The extreme likelihood is Swarbrick already knows Parker will be OC but he has to go through a more thorough vetting process and the story of him being the OC will be leaked soon. This is a genuine question, but is it normal to hire lower level assistants first? And still hired BVGKelly had like twenty years as a HC before getting to ND. He knew a lot of coaches to pick from.
Exactly. That's my point. We bashed Kelly for this and he had been a head coach.
Yeah dude. One out of 60 hires he had to make at ND.And still hired BVG
Again, my point is that it was shitty then too. But one coach had a long, successful resume that at least deserved a wait and see approach. MF hiring his buddies shouldn't really receive the same grace.I mean, Brian Kelly went 8-5 his first year, lost to Tulsa and Navy. Also had history of hiring his buddies from CMU and GVSU and UC. And even after all those years of experience, he hired Brian VanGorder.
Kelly had other options. We bashed Kelly for this and he had been a head coach.
But Swarbrick wouldn't have hired Gino. Gino is 100% connected to MF. If Gino is hired, that is 100% on MF.It is if you want to make it clear the Head Coach doesn't run the program and that they answer to you.
You are finally realizing this??? Oh boy.Again...why can't they reach out to boosters? Is ND the only school that doesn't do this?
I thought i read a report or a post here that referenced Boosters being irate they weren't at least asked if they'd fund a buyout for Ludwig.

Parker is an awful hire! And it looks that way. 25 point per game !!! Please. I feel like a kid that had a chance at getting a great pair of Nikes... And instead got new BOBos!!!Again, my point is that it was shitty then too. But one coach had a long, successful resume that at least deserved a wait and see approach. Burnt Ends did go 8-5 in his first year. He also inherited a Pinto of a program. MF is 9-5 in his first 14 games and inherited a Ferrari of a program.
MF has other options too. Andy Ludwig isn't the only guy on the planet that could have been the OC. The options aren't Ludwig or Parker/Gino. There are literally 50 other options out there comparable to Ludwig or Parker.Kelly had other options.
MF had his primary option pulled away from him by our moronic admin.
The ship has sank and fans still have a hard-on for Brian Kelly and not Jack Swarbrick. So many smart fans here. LolYeah dude. One out of 60 hires he had to make at ND.
I agree with the bold. What I think is odd is that there have been a decent number of OC and or QB coach opening available during the coaching carousel season, Streeter was fired fairly early in that season, and he has not really been talked about for any of those openings. Just an observation...I think most people assumed that if ND hired a non-QB coach as the OC, that Streeter would make a ton of sense to bring in as the QB coach. Did he even get a look?
That ship has been torpedoed, ransacked and abandonedThe ship has sank and fans still have a hard-on for Brian Kelly and not Jack Swarbrick. So many smart fans here. Lol
How do we help with that move?It would be a shame if Gerad Parker was the next TEs Coach of Wisconsin….
I saw the movie where Thor and the Nazi war hero from Inglorious Basterds were drivers. It was based on a true story. Pretty good. Prettaaay prettay pretty good.
Very good movie. Also not F1 lol.
Rush was F1

Wasn't Rush about Le Mans?
No, that was Ford V Ferrari
I don’t think so but it’s all going to affect recruitingDo we run the serious risk of losing Hartman if this hire happens?
