If you get tickets for the event itself, don't need much of a budget set aside for concessions lol.

Can confirm the Chicken biscuit sandwich and BBQ sandwich are crazy good. I don't like pimento cheese but I did try one. Can't go wrong with those beer prices (keep the cups for cheap souvenirs). The Peach Ice Cream Sandwich is amazing too.

I believe I heard there is no Peach Ice Cream Sandwich this year due to supply constraints.

Unfortunate.

Can’t wait to see what happens at The Masters this weekend. I’m headed to RBC Heritage at Hilton Head the following week. Played Harbor Town 8-10(?) years ago the week after they played there. Great track. On a side note I had my 2nd career hole in one last week. Great feeling.

I will admit to being an unabashed TW hater. I’m 34 and have been golfing since I was about 3. I can remember the PGA before Tiger and as much as I love him as a villain, I hate the coverage he generates, as it takes away from actual great golf storylines. Golf was great before Tiger and will be fine once he’s finally done. That said, it would be a pretty solid storyline if Charlie ends up making the tour…but I’d hate that pressure for the kid.

This week I’ve got Brooks on Sunday.

I'm the complete opposite when it comes to Tiger. I love him, and him being in the tournament is a great thing for the game!

That said, masters.com allows you access to so much of the tournament that you can watch nearly anyone with a few clicks, and it's minimal ads. At 32 I remember the game before him, and I LOVE Freddie. He was who I idolized growing up, but the point is Tiger made the game cool. Thanks to him these young guys on tour are athletes, real athletes, and they have that "cool" factor.

Gotta admit, as much as I dislike Tiger. Respect the hell out of his round today.

TW is the reason I started playing golf. He's the reason why I obsess over every tournament he chooses to play. The Masters is my favorite sporting event (overall) and when TW is playing, I'm at a Level 10 with excitement. I can totally see why those who aren't fans get sick with the constant media attention, but there is literally no other golfer who brings the ratings he does. He hasn't played competitive golf in two years. During that span, golf was fine. There are a lot of great young players. But none bring the absolute circus of media attention and fan frenzy that TW does.

On Friday, Scheffler (the current world #1 and leader of the Masters) teed off on 18 and the gallery was minimal at best (hell, half of them was probably his family haha). His group included former Masters Champ Adam Scott and I believe Tony Finau. Meanwhile, TW (who wasn't even in contention Saturday/Sunday) played in front of crowds that were 20+ deep and literally lined the fairways, greens, and tee boxes. There have been mega pairings of Rory, JT, and Koepka who don't even pull that kind of crowd. Until a golfer comes along that demands the attention TW does, the haters can just keep hating.

I keep crappy clubs in my bag for the same reason I don't golf unless it's windy, rainy, dark etc......... I need a good excuse when I likely will go triple digits on the score card.

I've already had four outside rounds of golf this year and I live on the Illinois/Wisconsin state line.

I bought a snow blower all but guaranteeing a complete lack of snow this winter.

Looking for some advice on clubs for my son. He's in middle school and has really taken a liking to golf and played on the golf team last year. At this point, I think he should just start swinging men's clubs, though they may be slightly long for him now, he can grow into them. I used to keep up on golf technology, but it's been 15-20 years since I cared.

Buying new probably isn't an option with prices these days, I'd like to find a decent set of used clubs, less than 10 years old. I'm thinking a driver, 3 or 4 wood, (he has a rescue wood), and then 5-SW probably. I hope to spend between $500-$600 for a set.

I don't live in an area with a bunch of big golf shops so my options would be either Ebay or 2nd hand online stores.

Any help would be appreciated. I just don't know what brands have kept up anymore. I'm still rockin' Ping Eye 2 black dots if that tells you how long it's been since I bought clubs, haha.

I’m a big fan of Cobra Radspeed woods. Inexpensive, long and forgiving. Worth a look. Also take a look at Callaway pre-owned. You can sometimes find great deals on new and display clubs.

I'm in the Philly burbs and have played twice in January so far. Outside of one week in Dec where we all suffered, it's been a mild winter. If its 45 degrees, sun is out and no wind, it feels like 50-55. I love a round of golf where you don't break a sweat.

Hit up Amazon and look for any junior set with a reputable name to it. Should be able to find something well within your price range and he will get alot of use out of them. Don't spend too much on clubs for a middle schooler. He will grow out of them within a few years and then you're right back to buying clubs again to fit his growth spurt.

Did the same in PA. Even though I don't mind the cold, I'm just not one to enjoy golf when it's 35-40 degrees though.

Check out Callaway preowned. They have a lot of clubs in really good conditions (not just Callaways too). Often their valuation on the clubs is lower than what it actually is, so you're paying for a "good" club, but getting a "great" club so to speak.

Global Golf is another website that usually has a decent used selection that often has the same grading as Callaway.

Forums like on golfwrx.com have buy sell trades, a quick registration there, and you might be able to ask questions about what to get and where as well.

I’ve owned every generation of the 0311 P/T combo. I love the Gen 5. I saw a big gain from 2 to 3, but has been pretty cosmetic since then. Small differences in feel and distance, but that might be shaft too.

Imo the 5 has been the best.

I have the military discount so their outrageous sticker price was never a factor for me and it’s even cheaper now that they’ve lowered them.

The P’s are about the size of the TM 790 and the T are about the size of the 770. They also make a XP and blades which I haven’t tried.

For me, P is very forgiving. I have a toe miss and will only lose 5 or do yards when it gets out there. Pretty consistent. No phantom flyers that aren’t grass induced and they have great turf interaction.
The T’s are the same thing in a smaller package. Less forgiving etc,

Best thing is, they look almost identical so you can play a mixed set.
4-5 XP
6-7 P
9-G T
Or whatever combo you want

Understandable. It’s not for everyone.

I walk 99% of my rounds year round.
When it’s below 35 I will wear a winter coat that I remove between shots so my core stays up there. I also have a remote control trolly so my hands stay in the pockets until I’m ready to hit.

Try this link: Best High Handicap Irons

I use Titleist AP2 irons. If you can find a cheap set of AP1 irons, that'd be my suggestion. The Tseries are the new line of irons. I'm sure they're great. They'll just cost more.

Pro Tip: Spend money on lessons, not clubs.

Two more rounds in this week and I have tee times for Saturday and Sunday. If the weather doesn't start acting normal I might break 200 rounds in 2023 (I had 112 in 2022).

I'm on the illinois/wisconsin line for you southerners that play year round.

Two questions

1) What's your handicap?

2) Are you single or divorced given 112 rounds in a year? haha

I’m a single digit. I tend to start out as a 5-6 every year and play myself down to a 2-3.

Then winter hits and my swing goes on hiatus.

My club is about 12 minutes from my desk to the first tee box. So after work rounds of golf are very easy to squeeze in without the wife knowing.

My 2008 AP1s and I feel personally attacked lol. But I agree, you can still snag these for $350 and I enjoy the clubs.

Been in the market for new irons for a while but just haven’t been able to pull the trigger just yet.

Did upgrade my woods and hybrid this year to the Callaway Rogue 1-5 wood and Titleist TSi hybrid. Put a Scotty mid mallet in the bag three years ago.

She's a saint and I (was going to enter a joke about how great I am sexually to keep her happy) am lucky.

Btw, I'm leaving now for a round at Makray Memorial lol.
24 degrees, but no wind. Expected to be 28 at tee time.
