Here are some YouTube highlights I found:

He may not have a ton of sacks but there are far more plays that he killed by getting into the backfield. He's not a great run defender in the sense of setting the edge and pushing blockers around but there are lots of hustle plays here so he's a willing and capable tackler.

USU played him as a hybrid LB/DE who played with his hand down about half the time there. There's a ton to like here as a situational pass rusher. I don't think he's going to be a three down kind of guy in ND's defense but he and Botelho at the ends on passing downs would be pretty effective, IMO.

I'm in Canada and we largely follow English law.

As I remember from my contract law days...

  1. Offer - Intention
  2. Acceptance - Consideration
  3. Contract confirmed
If there is acceptance with the absence of consideration (typically tangible), there is no contract. As a matter of law, it could be interpreted as a counter-offer. That's what I learned... right or wrong but it has served me well in negotiating.

Cheers and Go Irish!!

In American, it’s not that acceptance in the absence of return consideration is interpreted as a counter-offer, it’s that—in the absence of consideration—the initial offer is only gratuitous promise and doesn’t create a contract.

The initial offer that creates a contract requires some exchange of consideration in both directions. If you can accept the offer without any kind of return promise, then you aren’t in the world of contracts.

A counter offer is when you change the terms of the initial offer.

Back to the topic here...

I asked Driskell the other day on one of his live shows about his views on Vaughns. I asked him how he felt about Vaughns being a Vyper, and he disagreed. He believes he's more of a Big End, or at least plays like one.

Maybe Vaughns has that physicality that ND likes on the strongside, but his body type is built more of an OLB.

One thing just noticed with regards to competition if this isn’t a slam dunk, ASU is getting a ton of transfer commits from Texas (both the state and University) this weekend

The clips against Bama he didn't really look to be outmatched.

Not sure 🤔 if we get him. Seems obvious we are recruiting more towards a three man front and yet not pursuing much in the way of nose tackle bodies. A one gap 3-3-5 concerns me against the run heavy portion of our schedule. Also in the camp of quietly concerned about both Washington and Golden. Doubly concerned about not recruiting any cat vyper rush end types. Triply concerned about not enough gap eating heft on the interior because ultimately I don’t give a shit what Al Golden’s vision is because it has been a good long while since we had a d-coordinator who lasts more than two years and after all the years of great defense and lackluster offense or QB play, wouldn’t it be a pisser to flip that now after we hired a defensive head coach?

The teams ceiling will be greatly determined by the DLine in my opinion.

Agreed. Hope we can find at least one more big interior especially given the transfer talk and injury history of Big Kahuna

ISD mentioned that the plan would be for him to play opposite Botelho at times. Not much more specifics than that. Likely means more situational packages for the defense. Which, if you believe you have holes on the roster and can’t find someone for those holes. Another is to get better at two positions and try to use both together.

However, in a recurring dream I’ve had since the 2018 Clemson Playoff game. Golden comes out like a boss with a Bear front of Vaughns and Botelho opposite each other with Mills, Rubio, and Cross down. Would be fun to see.

You dont even see bear front against option teams killing a defense with the dive. It is as out of fasion as the wing T on offense leather helmets or the tossing belt.

Lea used it, though sparingly, against Clemson in 2018 playoff game. Gave them all kinds of fits.

I don’t think we should be running it a lot. But, if I land Vaughns I’d most certainly throw that at teams. Likely gives one on one matchups for Vaughns, Mills, Botelho, and Cross. See how fast they can get home. Those be some quick dudes.

Saying it could get home more consistently then deep safety blitzes?
