Either the staff is reading the tea leaves on Love and Lyons, or they're just contingency offers.

Charlotte (N.C.) Christian 2023 running back Kyron Jones assembled a strong junior year in Fall 2021, then followed it with a great track season, which concluded with a pair of North Carolina Division I sprint state championships in the 100 and 200 meters. Jones, who posted a 10.60 100 and a 21.60 200, should possess plenty of developmental potential given his 6-foot, 195-pound build and that certified track data. Jones, who debuts as a high three-star 87, has reported more than a dozen offers. NC State leads the 247Sports Crystal Ball. Here's an excerpt from the 247Sports scouting report on Jones:

"Initial downhill acceleration reflective of that (verified track) speed. First 10-20 yards are explosive. Displays adequate short-area agility at lower gears. Gains yardage after contact despite upright gait. Good production as a junior with 900-plus rushing yards on encouraging per-carry rate (8.7). Also showed pass-catching ability in limited opportunities, played significant defensive snaps, and contributed in return game."

10.6/21.6 speed 100M & 200M state champ in the spring.

Through 5 games this season has 48 carries for 700 yds @ 14ypc & 9 TD's rush + 160 receiving yds & 3 TD's.

NC St guys have had him CB'd there for a couple of months.

Duke, Vandy and multiple Ivy offers stick out.

Interesting.

Maybe its the other way around? Theyre offering guys who they dont want right before they commit so years later if they breakout they cant say "and Notre Dame didnt even offer this guy!".

They're still kicking themselves over Luke Kuechly.

Seriously, is this verbal commitment bound in blood? There isn't a finality to anything until the dude signs. Even then, with the portal, you have contact established in the long term now.

The game done changed.

Usually, if a kid decommits this close to ESD he already has his new home in mind. But, I don't know if he's planning on signing on Wednesday. I think ND is fine taking one back if Limar flips, but they liked Jones enough to offer him back when they only had Limar in the fold.

But, maybe something happens here.

Georgia or Nebraska. Just offered and visited both.

Georgia did this last year. Scooped up a RB super late.
