Props to him for playing well last night minus the two turnovers. He actually looked pretty good. We obviously need a transfer to start next season, but I’d be more than happy with Pyne as the backup for one more season. We know we can beat most teams with him as the starter (Stanford was on the playcalling much more than Pyne).

I don't know how much he can improve. Probably a situation where they're going to get every ounce of good football out of him and have done that already.

What it all looks like without Michael Mayer I have no idea.

Drew definitely gave it his all. From a talent standpoint, he is what he is, but I don't think anyone can question his heart and effort.

True, but the fact that ND is rolling out a QB that physically mirrors my physique is very very very not good for the program
I agree, but that's on the person who recruits, evaluates, and develops the QB's. Kelly and Chip are gone, and the one holdover from that regime that worked with the QB's is Rees.

Respect to Drew for giving it all he had under a difficult situation. He will always be an ND man and for that, he should hold his head up high.

Having said that, it will be an absolute failure on the coaching staff if Pyne ever plays another snap next year. Nothing against Drew, but the coaching staff needs to upgrade the talent level at the position by a leaps and bounds.

Pyne played a good game against SC... But it just highlighted how far the QB position has to go.

Well that is early than expected and the beat seems a bit off on their transfer radar so far. Hope what I thought were previous reports that he wouldn’t have graduated by December is not true and he’s finished up this fall.

He would still be fine if he graduates this spring.

I guess when your families THAT wealthy, you can walk away from the degree even knowing you have no shot at the NFL.

That's assuming he didn't graduate in 5 semesters... did he? I know they have access to so many more classes online now and some guys banked hours during Covid. Who knows.

I guess he could've just seen the writing on the wall. They're trying hard as hell to find a stud transfer, and it isn't just to compete for the job, it's to win it.

I fully expected Pyne to transfer after he graduated. I did not expect it this quick.
