And just reading the article myself, a source who has knowledge of all the top quarterbacks in the class said he would personally have Minchey in the top 4...

Did they say who the other quarterbacks in his top 5 were?

Cooper Petagna for 247 also said he sees Minchey as a potential multi year starter and was kinda implying he liked Carr a lot too, but Minchey ain’t coming just to bridge or fill a spot. Ton of the same qualities as Dante Moore on the field.

Yeah in reality, Minchey Redshirt or maybe in backup next year. Year 2 he starts along with year 3, Carr will be a Sophmore by then.

That's what you want in all of your recruits.

Honestly, that is phenomenal news. Stock up talent in the QB room, and it sounds like we are. Minchey and Carr is a borderline elite 1-2 punch.

If he's that good, it would take a lot of pressure off of the other scenarios (stringing together one-year-rental 5Ys, Buchner developing into a multi-year starter, or Carr walking in the door ready to go).
'23 is still a question mark but this gives another viable option for '24 and beyond.

I love how people talk about Silent Commitments. I think a stronger staff would tell a recruit that a Silent Commitment is a non-commitment and that until he is ready to commit its a non-factor and ND will still be taking visits from other players.

Frankly, I am suspicious of the narrative as its basically an easy out for the staff that went and over recruited this kid then got duped. They misread the landscape as they were all inexperienced and in retrospect saying that Dante gave a Silent was an Easy-Out for the debacle.

Based on what we have heard, had they kept the recruiting open, they could have likely gotten one of: Vizzina, Arnold or Johnson. But the "Silent Commitment" blunts the true nature of the shit show.

Hopefully they have learned their lesson no matter the recruit or the position.
