Anyone a Split Zone Duo subscriber? They mentioned Deon Sanders to UNT
I think if every rumor were real Coach Prime would have 40 job interviews lined up at this point.Anyone a Split Zone Duo subscriber? They mentioned Deon Sanders to UNT
i think hes self aware to know that he needs to get a G5 gig before he can be successful in a SEC/P5. A lot of folks will want him to fail, Auburn or the likes is too big for him right nowI think if every rumor were real Coach Prime would have 40 job interviews lined up at this point.
This one is kind of interesting though because it isn't a P5 gig and seems like natural progression from JSU.
Apparently, a lot of them need to be saved from themselves. When Saban first signed with Bama in '07 for $4M/year, that made him the highest paid coach in CFB. Today, $4M/year is on the low end of the spectrum, and way too many guys who are unproven at the highest level get a lot more than that in their first big job, or mediocre coaches have one good season and get a big raise and extension. I don't know why you extend a Franklin or hire a Harsin for huge bucks. Auburn extended Malzahn and paid through the nose to get rid of him shortly afterwards. A&M can't afford to keep Jimbo nor fire him. These and so many other schools grossly overpay unproven coaches or coaches who've had limited/one-off success, then pay for that mistake. I'd like to see more lower base salaries with incentive bonuses. If you perform and win, you get paid. If you don't, getting rid of you is not financially disastrous.State law saving these schools from themselves I suppose.

And these guys that host it are really good.I think if every rumor were real Coach Prime would have 40 job interviews lined up at this point.

Everything has devolved to this since P5 schools started getting drunk w/ TV money.Apparently, a lot of them need to be saved from themselves. Nebraska coaching search: What I’m hearing about candidates, Trev Alberts’ efforts
Some of the speculation has legs as we reach the midpoint of November. With two games left, Nebraska is expected to make its hire soon.theathletic.com
Indications are the Nebraska job is Rhule's if he wants it. He's at the top of their list and he has spoken with Nebraska A.D. Trev Alberts.
Leipold, Aranda, Doeren, Jeff Monken from Army and Bill O'Brien are all still part of a supposed short list.
I'm a little surprised that Luke Fickell's name isnt being mentioned much this year.
He got his extension and raise in February. Not that those are ironclad binding.I'm a little surprised that Luke Fickell's name isnt being mentioned much this year.
Could see Michigan or Penn State making a run at him too, should either of them open (more likely than ND or OSU in the short term). But yeah he's not an SEC guy, nor likely to bother with the lower half of the B1G. He's got a pretty good thing going. He got his extension and raise in February. Not that those are ironclad binding.
I'm guessing the only way he moves is if ND or Ohio State opens up. I don't know what kind of NFL aspirations he may have, if any. Hard to think of any SEC jobs he'd be a fit for other than Kentucky maybe? UC is making the P5 move to the Big 12 as well.
I don't know how deep the rivalry runs that Michigan would consider Fickell or that Fickell would consider Michigan.Could see Michigan or Penn State making a run at him too, should either of them open (more likely than ND or OSU in the short term). Agreed. I just think Day's going to be there for awhile, whereas Franklin is 10 posts up in a pic on a story about Auburn's coaching search. (not that he'd take it but eventually he will take something)I don't know how deep the rivalry runs that Michigan would consider Fickell or that Fickell would consider Michigan.
Penn State would be interesting. I think he could transfer a lot of his UC success to that program and maybe win a big game every now and again.
I think Fickell would want that Ohio State gig if offered to him. He was the interim between Senator Sweatervest and Pope Ohio. He was a good soldier in terms of doing that and stayed on as a lieuteant under Pope Ohio, and endured his bullshit during that time. I don't know how Fickell would turn them down if they came asking for him.

But if/when Day leaves, I'd sure rather OSU come asking for Fickell than for Freeman.
There are a lot of Penn St fans that I know that would gladly cut a check to Auburn to make it happen.LOL.
Yeah, Coach Win No Big Games Ever is going to help Auburn slay the Tide Dragon.
Day is 43 and has already coached in the NFL, so he has gotten a taste of what that's like. If he can win a National Championship at Ohio State, I think he won't be around much longer than that. Meyer got one in Year 3, then not again. Tressel got one in Year 2, then not again. John Cooper never got one and had mad talent every year.Agreed. Was REALLY hoping he was gonna get the USC job last yearLOL.

Welcome to my world. This is what it's like all day every day if you're a Bama or Georgia fan having to deal with Auburn people.Auburn beat Western Kentucky. Seriously?
I guess I'll keep my Snow, property taxes and less than two hour drive to ND.Welcome to my world. This is what it's like all day every day if you're a Bama or Georgia fan having to deal with Auburn people.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. That would be P5 disruption into the system and then some. He'd be a menace at South Florida.
