All I know is he has coached two games and led both at halftime only to lose. Obviously, both winnable. Not impressed so far.
Having a first time starting QB, with an OL that's getting whooped repeatedly to the point that said QB is facing pressure every other drop back, with a non-existent run game and insanely limited options at receiver is just...making excuses.Making excuses for BK's OC. His scheming against OSU was weak and awful.
Do you even context, bro?All I know is he has coached two games and led both at halftime only to lose. Obviously, both winnable. Not impressed so far.

That's not "making excuses" dude. That's reality. Nobody is going to scheme around bad personnel getting beat. You don't have the tools outside to force Ohio State to play honest and your line (the interior at least) is getting physically manhandled.
It was clear as day that scheme wasn't the reason the offense struggled. It was losing the battle in the trenches and having no answer outside of Styles and Mayer, which good teams can easily defend against.
Our vaunted yearly o line gets manhandled every single time we play one of the big boys.Having a first time starting QB, with an OL that's getting whooped repeatedly to the point that said QB is facing pressure every other drop back, with a non-existent run game and insanely limited options at receiver is just...making excuses.

I think Freeman said it best. If Paterson being out made that much of a difference, then they have much bigger problems than they knew. But a good offensive coordinator knows his weakness. If you know that being in two tight ends. Very first play of the game you come out with two tight ends in line and 2 wr’s your Qb and running back.
At this point it’s a look that’s to our strength. If the defense presents with a billy you have extra blockers in your tight ends. If they show that your tight ends are getting a easy match up you have short route to a TE end or in styles case he might win his battle.
And I saw some where’s that Pff graded Zeke really bad. You can’t tell me that staff is that bad that they didn’t see that coming.

ND played a ton in double tight end sets. But a good offensive coordinator knows his weakness. If you know that being in two tight ends. Very first play of the game you come out with two tight ends in line and 2 wr’s your Qb and running back.

So we had 7 or even 8 blocking with a RB and still got whipped. That makes it even worse.ND played a ton in double tight end sets.
Tommy clearly knew his weaknesses, but that doesn't mean he's equipped to overcome them against a quality defense.
You say that we need to look to our strength. That's the problem. ND's strengths don't mean the weaknesses go away. There's another person on the other side of the field that can scheme to neutralize your strengths and expose your weaknesses.
ND often played as you suggested and called plays to get easy matchups, but the reality is that ND had very few "easy" matchups to exploit and when they did, they were missed. There were a lot of plays to be had, but because Buchner was pressured on literally half of his drops, you had several missed opportunities with a first time starting QB.
That doesn't mean those 2 tight ends are staying in to block. So we had 7 or even 8 blocking with a RB and still got whipped. That makes it even worse.
Do our offensive coaches even coach? Do the offensive players even play?
Typical Sea Turtle value added post. Do the math on 8 blocking, with a RB and accounting for a QB. Didnt see too many single route plays during the game. Having multiple TE sets doesnt mean or imply in any way theyre all staying in pass pro, but you know that. You’re just pot committed to your tired schtick. So we had 7 or even 8 blocking with a RB and still got whipped. That makes it even worse.

It allows for two routes. It allows for power running, play action and for slipping a tight end or back to create a third target.Typical Sea Turtle value added post. Again, you missed the point. Most of the pressure that Ohio State generated was coming from the interior, where guys like Correll, Lugg and Kristofic were either whiffing on assignments or flat out getting physically manhandled. So our tightens got whipped too then. Nice

Once they saw that our line was ass, they should have gone to this strategy imo.
Maybe Buchner or the offense can't execute a screen? Maybe they gave him the best gameplan Tyler was capable of executing given the circumstances. Why do you think you know more than the entire offensive staff? I agree that a screen probably would have been helpful, but there's probably a good reason why they didn't run one.Yes that is why you do screens. And Rees didn't call for them. Ugh.
It's funny how we've gone from despising screens because we always sucked at them to begging for more screens now.Maybe Buchner or the offense can't execute a screen? This team isn’t going to make a bowl game and the 2023 recruiting class is going to fall apart, so I’d be fine if they fired everyone.
