Refreshing to know that if the dominoes fall such a way that OSU lands Glenn and Nelson goes to A&M that Rees & Co. couldn't beat out fucking Baylor (a school this kid was apparently all to happy to leave at the alter) for Novasad. Ace recruiting at the position this cycle, once again. Truly. And for everyone saying "oH iTs FiNe, We HaVe CaRr In 24" -- what happens when he's a bust or gets injured and we have to rely on our '23 kid to step in? Oh. Wait. There isn't one. "DoNt WoRrY, wE hAvE aNgELi!" Yeah, I know -- he has moxie. Cool. News flash - just because Tommy "got his guy" in '22, doesn't mean it's good for the program. This boom or bust philosophy for recruiting the QB position is total BS.
It’s ok, though. Tommy used to play for ND.

We are fine this season. DP will transfer after the season. If TB looks really good, get Angeli some PT over DP. No reason to play DP imo unless TB sucks or get hurt. If Angeli can hold his own, we are fine.

If TB struggles this year, we are in trouble. At that point go hard at the portal for a 1 or 2 year wonder like Coan. Then it’s CJ vs Angeli.

I think we are going to have to go portal. This is a failure of the staff to recruit QB. There’s no other way to spin it.

To be clear, I have no issues with Tommy the play caller and Tommy the position coach -- I actually quite like what he's done there. But I think his body of work as recruiter is worrisome at best. I don't care what anyone says about Pyne or Angeli ("Rees got his guy") -- they are not program changers. We should have NEVER gone all-in on Moore at least until he went public. We should have kept on every last big fish we were recruiting until that point in time.

Has something happened or is this just a reaction to the fact that Novosad doesn't appear to be choosing ND?

Because if he's wanting A&M but is still waiting for a green light to commit then Nelson's visit might upend all of that.

I think he sticks with Baylor.

Do we need to root for TAMU to get Nelson? I mean, I think we should to screw USC over, but are we second fiddle to TAMU, or third to both Texas schools?

The consensus I've been seeing is that he sticks in Texas, so I think third to both Texas schools.

Get used to that. The Texas schools are going to outspend everybody.

And we haven't really seen how willing schools will be to use NIL until we get close to NSD.

The longer A&M has their eyes on bigger fish the better for us here. But unless/until they actually land someone else they will absolutely be a threat all the way to Signing Day.

That was my "frustrated with '23 cycle QB recruiting as whole" combined with initial reports from the beat on the Novasad situaion knee-jerk reaction to the situation at hand lol

Malachi is the 5 star kid that was going to be open that they were talking about a couple weeks ago. We nailed it when we were sifting through it all. I think Novosad is crazy to want to go to TAMU. Jimbo is always going to sell you a bottle of snake oil.

But if Nelson jumps to A&M, who does USC go get? Because you know Lincoln Riley won't be sitting there on Signing Day without an elite QB in his class. Time for Nico, Dante and Rashada to dial up their lawyers?

Nelson rumors were he wasn’t happy with USC “keeping promises.”

Let’s just pretend the “promise” was NIL/moneybag related…
What better way to force USC’s hand than to visit A&M?

I bet he stays with USC, with a much fatter wallet in the end, just because he visited A&M.

This. People seem to forget about the Portal which is actually recruiting - phase 2
We likely only go portal if Buchner sucks or if the kid is from Stanford or Harvard. We don’t take many undergrad transfers. No grad transfer that is any good will want to come to ND to compete with Buchner for 1 year. You need a kid with 4 years that can play if Buchner goes down or when he graduates.

I mean
You're allowed to take grad transfer QBs too from other schools.
I seem to remember this happening recently

Right. But why would a grad transfer want to be TB’s backup unless he’s so damn good you can’t keep him off the field or TB absolutely sucks? In that case, why’s he transferring?

Weren't there rumblings Addison wasn't getting the money he was promised, either?
