The coal baron who lives on a yacht and drives a Maserati just keeps it real.
The same guy who recognized the left was going to spend us to insane inflation a year ago and tried to check it is delivering again to reign in the far left. Only 2 sane people exist in that group willing to put country over party, and I'm grateful for it. Biden is still abusing his executive authority to ram in as much of this crap as possible though. The legislative body is weak, and that was the point of the recent EPA ruling. It had more to do with checks and balances than with the environment.

Oh now we’re supposed to care about spending lmao.

The national debt has risen by almost $7.8 trillion during Trump’s time in office. That’s nearly twice as much as what Americans owe on student loans, car loans, credit cards and every other type of debt other than mortgages, combined, according to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. It amounts to about $23,500 in new federal debt for every person in the country.

The US federal budget hasn’t been balanced since 2001 so this is all par for the course. I’d be very surprised if this ever changes again since there are so many folks on the government teet.

The American Rescue Plan delivered with 0 Republican votes- also known as the fake covid bill or Dem shopping spree bill that was too much ahead of Biden's push for trillions on BBB- devastating. So yes, I care.

Literally none of this matters or has anything to do with my point.

I was contesting the idea that without covid Trump would have steamrolled the election. Full stop.

You can cite all the bullshit you want that happened to poor Trump. Maybe all of that added up is the reason he lost, but it sure isn't covid's fault because he was already losing. Due to the real or fake controversies he was dealing with on a daily basis.

OK - isolate the single issue then. I don't know the definition of "steamroll" in terms of margin of victory but Trump easily wins without Covid and probably swings the House and definitely the Senate. Roaring economy and real wage growth, particularly in the minorities the Dems love to scare from leaving their plantation - it's the economy stupid.

And that is without arguing the loosening of election integrity due to Covid hysteria ramped up the fraud. 40k votes in those three states easily flip in a "Covid never happened" scenario. Would love to re-run the simulation with in-person voting showing an ID for the last 20 years.

We’ve been over this. Trump spent over twice as much on Covid relief with the majority going to millionaires and billionaires.

Trump f-ed up on Covid and spent way too much money. Should have never shut down. Two weeks to flatten the curve predictably became two years to flatten the middle class. Really let that goal post shift from a manageable hospital load to avoiding infection at all cost.

Right. Nobody ever tells them to cut back on lattes, though. We regular folk just ain't worthy.

Manchin and Sinema are doing what the people who give them money want. Anything other than that you can find on Disney Plus.

We’ve gone over this. Inflation started spiking when the 2T fake Covid bill passed on partisan lines.

Yes it was definitely the 2 trillion from Joe and not the 7.6 trillion Trump added.

If I shoot you in the chest and then shoot you in the arm, when you bleed out which wound killed you?

Also you can pump your chest about the bill being partisan as much as you want. It's not helping your argument. Republicans would vote against a bill bringing Christ back from the dead if Dems wrote it.

Yes and no.

The stuff Trump did with covid, idk. If people aren't allowed to go to work, gotta do something for them I guess. No way it didn't contribute but was probably necessary (in some amount).

Some Republicans signed onto the infrastructure stuff. Some signed onto the gun stuff too.

I think Larry Summers straight up told the Dems this was gonna happen if they passed the big spending bill.

The US government is a bloated inefficient mess. HW, Obama, Trump, and Biden are all guilty of running up the national debt.

I'm sure Biden's covid relief had an effect on inflation, as did Trump's. Just drives me crazy when someone is so biased they're seriously going to try and blame this issue on something both parties are clearly responsible for. Especially someone trying to defend Trump. Who as a candidate ran on wanting to shrink the national debt. He said our debt (which was $19T at that point) could be eliminated in 8 years. Instead he added nearly 50% more.

It’s been a bloated inefficient mess for quite some time now………it‘s beyond frustrating it’s the best we can do. Everyone just blames everyone else, it’s a perfect system to make sure no one is responsible.

What was inflation the month before It passed and what is it now?
This was the era of “it’s transitory”

Republicans opposed partisan bills because they only serve the left wing agenda. GOP has crossed the aisle on some bills.

You can puff your chest all you want, but the left threw gas on the fire it blew up on their watch.

BBB may have been the straw that broke the camels back but you don't get bonus points for playing hot potato with the economy and happening to not burn your hands.

For someone that fetishizes small government as much as you do, racking up 7.6 trillion dollars in new debt should be unconscionable to you.

Oh I'm with ya on that. Presidents are all terrified of cutting deficits and are all more than willing to justify running up additional debt.

My main point is Trump is probably the only guy with a bona fide excuse (maybe W? Afghanistan wasn't cheap) to run up tons of Borrowed Benjamin's in my lifetime (1992).

It is what it is, I'll never be POTUS. But it seems unsustainable. We ain't ever getting rid of debt (nor should we) but Jesus this is getting ugly. Just printing money.

As long as the interest to GDP ratio isn't out of whack (pretty stable recently), then the deficit isn't going to crush a country. Federal Outlays: Interest as Percent of Gross Domestic Product

I mean, who's actually going to call in their debts with the US?

One of the things ARPA did that will pay big dividends is streamline and codified funding sources for money that would otherwise have been dealt out via sporadic and capricious Congressional spending bills. Particularly with mega projects, this made planning and funding an inefficient nightmare. ARPA aimed to fix that system. A lot of people might be surprised to find out it wasn't one-time money printing but a replacement of a piecemeal funding system.

I'm a mayor of a town that got $2,000,000 in ARPA funding. We've spent about $30,000 so far. Most of the projects funded by ARPA aren't even happening until 2023-2026.

So LOL at anyone who wants to blame ARPA for inflation. Get a clue.
