'23 TX QB Jackson Arnold (Oklahoma Verbal)

I am. Evaluating actual throwing ability is a bit of a crapshoot with just YouTube highlights, but Moore and Nico are both in a different tier physically.

If that’s the case, I hope the staff makes those 2 a priority over Arnold, and doesn’t just accept whoever commits first (if that is Arnold). After WR, an elite QB should be the top priority in this class IMO.

I was just basing that on the statement that the 2 were on a different level physically than Arnold. That seemed logical enough to make them more desirable in my opinion. I think I’m also still a bit gun shy on any recruit who claims to be 6-2 or under. Seems like more often than not they show up as 5-11 and can’t see over the line.

Nico is the only QB I'd take over Arnold on the board personally.

Sounds as though that the way he played was impressive. Westlake was just on another level this year from the sounds of it. Arnold was sacked 9 times (or something like that) and kept battling.

Guyer was insanely outmatched, but guys like Arnold and Bowen kept them in as long as they could.

Westlake just had guys on top of guys.

But Arnold is either going to be a 5-star by the end of the camp circuit or very damn close to it. That guy was getting annihilated back there and just made some really impressive throws.

I think it would be a sign of real recruiting progress if they got a QB like this. Major step forward for Freeman and Rees if they can get him in.

How well does Arnold run? I have watched his tape, but take it w/ a grain of salt as it is highlight tape. Is he a dual threat guy, or is he a guy that teams won't need to account for in the run game. Is he more Coan or Book/Buch ?

Legit question to those who know more then I do. The dual threat is why I am such a fan of Moore and Johnson. I think a lot of people are sleeping on Johnson (again my opinion).

Don't see anything bad grabbing him. ND doesn't have to have the top QB out there, just fundamentally sound and high FB IQ with a knack for winning. I think Arnold fits.

He is Ian Book, but will play college ball at 2 inches taller, 20 lbs heavier, and with the arm, strength, vision and nuts to push the ball down the field and throw into tight windows. I would take that in a heartbeat, I an did great things at ND, but his physical abilities were a poor mans Jackson Arnold.

I get what you're saying but they have literally trotted everyone else out there except Ian up to this point.... it's not far fetched to believe an up and comer may have more potential ahead of him than a QB that is kind of a proven commodity.

One thing I was seeing watching his film. (I'm not good at watching film) does it seem to anyone else like he takes a long time to make a decision, relying on what looks like a studly Oline to keep him protected?

Or is it the scheme that is built around long developing plays.

It just looks like he holds the ball forever. To the untrained eye he looks like he has trouble making quick decisions.

Ian was very good at ND. His issue was he couldn't throw the deep one consistently and couldn't see the middle seams.

I'm not sure how that improves with NFL competition, but I'll root like hell for him.

My point was simply the point I will make about anybody playing in the NFL, not just Ian, which is any NFL player isn’t a poor man 16 year old HS player. That’s all I’m saying.

I think you missed the point... all of what you said is true but it doesn't change the point. Jackson Arnold, an unknown, has more potential to be great at this point than Ian Book does ...
