Unfortunately, I didn't consider this, but it does seem more practical to drive 4 hours to visit Alabama than it is flying up to ND.

The layover and the fact that you don't control your itinerary is hurting us right now. The Walkers could realistically drive up to Bama right after the championship, have lodging accommodated and have all day to enjoy the visit.

Whereas, they'd definitely have to layover at somewhere like O'Hare and wouldn't likely get into South Bend until later in the day.

Sucks, but it is what it is.

I think this kid likes to take trips, I think we will be fine. We were in before everyone down south and he knows it.

This kids team doesn’t play until 7pm tomorrow. I’d almost bet he doesn’t go to Alabama at all.

Keep up man… HS players are now sitting out their state championship games to pursue their dreams of becoming 3 year collegiate athletes

I honestly don’t understand why they have let him stay committed this entire time and not recruited his replacement. He either sticks or he leaves and ND is left holding the bag.

Is he so important that they can afford to take that risk?

I think it's a combination of yes he is that important and wide receiver being such an incredibly desperate need this cycle. I don't think we should assume they are not recruiting his replacement, but I do think he's getting away with some s*** that most kids would not get away with while other cycles, assuming that that position is healthy.

We didn't know anything about Khari Gee until literally a day or two before he signed.

I totally get where you’re coming from and I’m hoping that any backup options are in the shadows like Gee, but that wasn’t a flip because we had2 decommits at the position in the last hour.

With that said, I would think that if the staff was as worried as we are about going 0/2 on Williams and Walker, that there would be a lot more scuttlebutt and activity on who the backups are.

He’s going to have a ceremony to announce “final decision” at 10 PM on signing day. So… that doesn’t sound great?

Sounds like someone wants to wait to see if he’s a take at a certain school

This feels right. So basically we would need Bama to go 2 for 2 with Shazz Preston and Kendrick Law in order for our WR class to not be a fucking catastrophe.

And even if he does sign...certainly doesn't bode well for him lasting 4 years here.

What a fucking shit show.

Pretty disappointing that with the month or two of foreseeability on williams and walker there no circle back psaki on any upside 3 star guys. Time to go down the bc, northwestern, etc… commits list and make some calls

The “there is no backup plan” narrative is not entirely accurate. They had certain guys as backup or second attempt type plans (Grimes, Anderson, Griffin) and were turned down there. The Plan C if you will was to wait and pursue the portal or post ESD opportunities. There are no new names because the focus has been on keeping Plan A and nothing is going to change with Plan C between last week and ESD. Plan B has been contacted for weeks/months. You’re either going to hear new 2022 names or straight portal names post ESD, this is the “backup” route.

3 guys, of which one already turned us down initially, isn't a legitimate backup plan. The net should've gone a lot further than that.

Everhart, Jarel Williams. There are others I just listed top of mind
