Yea, the Carmody eval always had the excellent basketball film to see how well he moved. Then it was just about getting into football shape 24/7. Sounds like his body has taken to that really well. Credit to 247 for their late recognition of him. He ended the cycle at 149 at 247 and 231 at Rivals.

And that was after they dropped him 30 odd spots. Went thru this thread and fixed all the links and read up on the new star.

Early predictions on the OL for next year?

LT Fisher LG Rocco
C Zeke
RG Carmody
RT Alt or Tosh

Anyone have eligibility I may have left out?

All this started going thru my mind too. What if they keep Zeke at LG and Carmody stays ahead of Baker/Alt??

LT - Fisher
LG - Zeke
C -- Kristofic
RG - Rocco
RT - Carmody

I feel like I read that presser yesterday and the sun came up in the west today.

And that's a real possibility too. My big take away is if Tosh can't crack a starting spot, you have to think how good the OL is right?

Well, lining Spindler up next to Fisher is just too tempting for Quinn to pass up.
And kelly has given just enough hints about Correll's weight issues to lead one to suspect he will return to center.

I can see Carmody remaining ahead of Baker/Alt.
I can not visualize Kristofic remaining ahead of Baker/Alt. Positional fit be damned.

Good catch. After I posted that, I went back and realized that I forgot they dropped him at the end. He actually got the big bump the previous February and then they starting dropping him back down. Time flies, lol.

If Tosh can't crack a starting spot next year, does he have what it takes? Is he overrated? Potential transfer?

Yeah...we will have a damn good o-line next year. Pencil in Fisher and Spindler for sure and Zeke.

I think part of the reason Carmody appears to have one the 6th OL spot is flexibility. Clearly based off practice they think he could play LT or RT. BK also compared him to Hainsey. Who knows maybe they think in a bind they could even throw him mid-game at OG (Kelly has said he’s a OT in the past though). All that to say I wouldn’t rule out Baker for a future OT spot or pencil in anyone besides Correll on the interior.

I want Carmody at guard next year unless Alt/Baker can't take over right tackle. Carmody is praised for his athleticism and that would allow us to do some very creative pulling with an athletic tackle-become-guard prospect. I really believe in Alt's future so I think he's going to take that right tackle position until Fisher moves on to NFL.

The best line ever was McG/Q with Bars pulling from RG. Bars was a converted RT. If Carmody follows script, he would be the most athletic RG ND's had in the BK era.

I hope Zeke goes back to OC but that 247 piece on the presser sure sounded like Prister/OMalley were echoing staff in saying that Zeke's always been an OG... meaning that's how he plays the game and where he's most comfortable.

Yeah, I wish Kristofic would emerge. He still has time and maybe he'll take C/G duty next year but there is a lot of competition moving forward. Seems like Carroll might be left behind which is a shame, I thought he was going to be big time player for ND. I hope he gets his degree and maximizes any opportunities given.

Yes I’d say barring a shock that the possibilities end with Kristofic at this point.

OT: Fisher, Baker, Carmody, Alt
IOL: Correll, Carmody, Spindler, Kristofic

That feels like you’re pool for 2022.

Isn’t Kristofic technically the number 2 center right now? Probably Zeke would slide to center in place of Patterson. But I would not count Kristofic out yet. He is still to young.

Isn't listed in the OL depth chart for this week, BUT is listed as the 3rd string TE due to the injuries and targeting call last week.
BK, don't be a coward. Throw a TD to the big guy!

Mentioned this is the USC game thread. Kelly said that he's being listed as a TE similarly to why Alt was before. To be an extra blocker in 13 personnel. Baumann is still 2 weeks away. So, at that time, they'll evaluate what to do from there.

Probably just for the first half because Evans has to sit out. But Carmody was a damn good basketball player in HS and can probably catch the ball. How about that for a goal line play, 3 tight ends and they cover Mayer and ignore Carmody so we hit him?

He was a TE in HS until his Jr year when they moved him to OT. His Sr year of hoops was close to a 20/20 guy. So yeah, he'd prolly be great in a tackle eligible or 2 -3 TE set.

3 RS Freshmen and a Sophomore are starting on the OL for the bowl game. Carmody wasn't in the original 2 deep, but it would be nice to have someone who's been in the program awhile backing those guys up.

The phrase “with that being said” in the decommital world and now with entering the transfer portal is just to much. Im not sure what else they should say but it’s just nauseating to me. Ok, enough whining for the day.

Kind of a mystery why this guy dropped off the edge of the earth after 2021. Never played at all this year, even on extra points and FG's.
"multiple" years of eligibility indeed. Sounds like even he doesn't know.

That's, what, three of our guys to land at UCLA? The other two are from California. For Carmody I guess it's a chance to start in the Big Ten? Go get 'em big guy.
