Irish Envy Prediction Feature

I'm working on a prediction rating system and my suggestion is simply a 1, 2 or 3.

1 = Fit + Gut feeling / Makes sense as a futures bet / ND over every single team but maybe not vs the entire field. sorta thing

2 = Circumstantial evidence

3 = Factual intel

I figured we can all drop a number (or CB / FC) when we feel good about a prospect, that's why I used initials but I don't think we need those. There's talk of making a Prediction Page to store them. Kinda like how Rivals lets members get in on FC's. We could log them there. I think Cack has been putting thought to this as a stand alone feature.

Any way to track yours separately vs the board's? For most it would just be a regurgitation of whatever paysite they subscribe to with a green tint to it.

Would love to see a table of guys you (BobbyMac) feel good about. Think it would be a nice inclusion to/or it's own weekly/monthly thing like LL has been doing.

That feature and the potential to build off of it would (further) set this board apart from any other independent CFB forum. It's a really good idea, notwithstanding the work overhead to get it running.

Oracles as Clash mentioned on other thread was the initial attempt at this but I believe clash or whoever ran it was through google and we just posted to OP of the thread and likely more work than got out of it

My thought is there'd be a table that had the User, the prediction, the date made... and date's of any flips also. So all would be easily viewable/sortable

I think we should import the 247 / Rivals / ISD guys' picks too.

Maybe that table has to be built into the OP of each players profile?

Now is where Cack Lax, Lucky & Lion decide what needs to be done, Clash & Beau build it and Whiskey distributes the 137 page user agreement for everyone to sign.

As I posted in the thread wherever this topic came up, I got this going probably 5 or 6 years ago on IE, we called it the Oracles. If I remember correctly, I started tracking it using google sheets/forms, but then created a database for it on a personal server/website I use. I set it up where you could view predictions by user, by recruit, and then kept stats for each user based off of percentage of correct picks plus length of time that prediction was in before the recruit announced his decision. I'm sure I have all of the old files somewhere, but the database itself would need to be rebuilt. If there is interest in this I will start digging into it a little more.

Personally I think just a Master Thread could store all the picks of certain posters on the OP and someone could post when they make a new pick and why. I don’t think that many posters, including myself, would have a reason for a pick that others don’t. So could be something like:

Hero Kanu
- Poster X: ND, Confidence Level: 1, Date: 7/12/2021
- Poster Y
- Poster Z
- ISD
- Rivals
- 247
- Celeb Shot

Celeb shot like in beer pong would be like a guest pick if someone believes they have inside info

Oh no. Clash is going to build an amount of time predicted correct functionality into this simply to separate users from their hard earned vbucks... or realbucks as soon as they get servers in the Caymans.

As I'm just a bystander who knows absolutely nothing so won't be needing his own page, perhaps we can have one "Predictions" topic. Each predictor would have one post that they have to update as their predictions update. This way we aren't searching multiple posts or even try to figure out the most up to date prediction, it's all in one place. Just spitballing here.

I’d like to see the predictions from the other sites included. I also think the earlier a prediction is made, the more points earned. If you switch your prediction you don’t get as many points as someone who stuck with their prediction.
