Archie Miller is done at Indiana.

Indiana confirms Archie Miller's firing with a statement that says "private philanthropic funding" will pay the $10 mil buyout.

I can't help but laugh at philanthropic funding. Great stuff.

Indiana is not interesed in Steve Alford. Which is really good for Indiana. Leads me to believe they probably won't have any interest in Rick Pitino either.

I have to think they go for Scott Drew first, then try Tony Bennett like they did four years ago since he's now won at UVA and could cash in his chips there.

After that, I have no clue. Brad Stevens isn't walking through that door.

Its always been ND football and IU basketball for me. I am hoping they can right the ship. IU basketball deserves better.

I actually think Alford would be good. He’s won where ever he’s been at and IU needs someone that “gets” IU. There’s someone at IU that has a hard on for him. Dane Fife would be a good choice.

A lot of speculation it's going to be one of beilein, drew, or beard.

The AD announcing not hiring a search firm makes it sound like they have a pretty good idea of who they are targeting already.

Given the last four hires, a search firm would be a waste of money.

Crean had his limitations for sure and threw in the towel at the end but he at least has some conference titles and tourney appearances and wins

Pretty exciting stuff for me. I graduated with Scott Dolson and played basketball with him in 9th & 10th grade. I played for Scott Drew's dad Homer and coached with Scott as a GA.

I got a text today that said, "The Scott D's are hooking up." I responded, Scotty's not gonna interview Alford, Bennett or Pasternack? The response? "Doesn't matter".

My take:

I'm afraid of Alford. Dolson and Alford are tight. Alford's a year ahead of us and Scott lived next door to Alford for 3 year. Dolson was a 4 year manager for Knight at IU. I don't want Alford to get the job as he'll just be a Tom Crean tops and IU fans will except it for as long as Steve's there.

Scott Drew will bring a style of play and the players that excel in said system that IU fans aren't gonna be crazy about... as they've spent the last 50 years either loving Bobby ball or pining for it. That ain't Scott. He's more like Nolan Richardson.
I have little doubt Scott will be very successful in Bloomington but it might not sit well with a lot of IU fans until he gets to the Final Four and drags them out of the 70's and into modern AAU, Jack or Dunk hoops.

Bennett's the best fit. His style is 90% Bobby which he inherited from his Dad who was a 100% Bobby disciple. He's also the hardest to hire but Dolson only has to hit the speed dial and the problems vanish. IU will break the bank for this next hire if it's not...

Joe Pasternack. Total wild card here but Joe's maybe the hottest mid-major guy, has big school experience and most importantly... was a 4 year manager for Knight, just like Scott.

I'm gonna go Scott Drew until I get a text that says otherwise.

He's also a complete scumbag, but hey, it's college sports. Scumbags have been molding young boys into men for decades. The amount of asshole baggage is something they can't afford, can they?

Belein seems crazy to me. He's 68 years old, and while the last two POTUS have been in their 70s, I don't know if that's really the path a once proud program is going to take to try to get back? This job is going to be a killer for whoever gets it. IU probably needs to find their Self/Calipari hire here. You've gotta find "the guy".

Drew, Beard, Altman seem to make the most sense. Drew is in football country with Baylor. Maybe he's happy there, but the chance to bring IU back is beyond enticing.

Brad Stevens' time may be running short with the Celtics, but he'll have other NBA opportunities like Billy Donovan. Highly doubt he wants to go back to the bullshit of the college game. He's the unicorn hire for IU. And a lot of other people.

I'm going with Beard. I think Drew says no.

The one Minnesota just fired or the 68 year old at Iona with baggage?

Rick, Iona.

Baggage? Yes. But I don’t think the NCAA has ever charged him with anything that makes him unhireable.

He is slimy, but he wins.

What it all boils down, to, right? Ultimately speaks to the greater issue of college sports.

Rick is also 68 years old like Belein. Is that the route they want to take? This program needs to find their forever coach now. KU did it with Self, UK did it with Calipari. Indiana has to find their guy. Do they want the recycled garbage? Why not aim higher?

Richard the son was just hired by New Mexico this morning.

Hopefully Oklahoma State gets to the Sweet 16 so fans can enjoy Cade Cunningham before he's the first pick in the NBA Draft this summer. Very much the talent he's hyped to be.

Iowa State hires TJ Otzelberger from UNLV as their next HC.

Makes sense and there was a very strong sense this was going to happen. Iowa State has great fan support. Not a top 30 job, but they have a strong fan base and Otzelberger was an assistant there at one point.

I have eligibility left. I'd play for this guy.
