Today on ESPN's "First Take" Kirk Herby alluded multiple times to JC talkin' smack to the LB's and how he needs to just stop all that crap and focus on getting first downs.

I haven't noticed this (nor have I particularly looked for it.) Has anyone else noticed this, or have any clue what Herby's talking about?

I know on the roughing the passer penalty, Clausen had a few choice words for Michigan linebacker Crable. Not sure what was said, but it does seem Clausen is starting to vent his frustrations of being on his back the entire game.

Here is what Herby is talking about...from CNNSI page 2. I have noticed him jawling several times after a big hit...I think he wants to be Brett Fayre. I like the attitude but not until he starts backing it up!

>>>In the middle of Saturday's third quarter, Michigan linebacker Shawn Crable rushed Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen. Michigan's senior defensive captain burst through the line, leapt as he approached Clausen and flew toward the freshman, unable to stop after Clausen released the ball. Crable accepted a roughing the passer penalty and said the call didn't bother him. Apparently it got to Clausen, though, whose Notre Dame team was already losing, 31-0. "He started talking and I didn't really understand that," Crable said. "He doesn't get rattled but he is a freshman. I just told him I'm going to be right back to see him. Then my coach told me to shut up and I was on the sidelines."

Yea I've seen it a few times after Clausen gets taken down he seems to have some word to offer. I'm not really sure if its all that big of a deal, I think its just how some guys opperate, i.e. Brett Favre.

And like jpham said, I'm sure it can be quite frustrating getting sacked 8 times a game, that may also contribute.

About time somebody on this team has the fire. I believe it is Clausen's burnign deisre to be a winner. I wihs more guys on the team felt that way. Somebody needs to light a fire under their a$$es, might as well be the #1 recruit in the nation.

Damn right, plove. I've been glad to see the kid get fired up. That hit from Crable was a total cheap shot, and he deserved to have Jimmy get in his face.

Exactly, he's not used to losing and doesn't want to start now! I wish more players had the same mentality.

I'd be getting pissed too if my a$$ was getting sacked every other play

Everybody talks. I have no problem with him doing so. I'm concerned about him yelling when he's getting bumrushed and fearing for his life.

One thing that Jimmy has shown me that I never expected. Not the pinpoint accuracy, or the cannon arm. Not his poise and polish. He is a tough SOB. He's been sacked like 193 times these first three games, and not only does he get up and dust himself off, he has enough swagger to talk smack to the guys who are unloading on him. Jimmy isn't just a good QB, he's a freakin football player. Maybe the true freshman will rub off on this team, and they'll start to turn this abomination of a season around.

The only person showing any leadership on the team is Jimmy C. He could easily get tee'd off with his team but he hasn't. Instead, he is taking his frustration of being clobbered every ohter play on the opposing team. Like others, I wish there more like him on the team. We need to get that Notre Dame fighting spirit back. Go Irish!

If you watch the replay of the penalty, Crable is actually giving JC a judo chop to the neck. How he did not get tossed is beyond me. It is pretty clear Crable tried to hurt JC.

TOTALLY agree...I'm just glad that JC has kept his composure, trash talking or no.
