Well said. I think what he did was distasteful and he has no class at all. Im very disappointed in him because we may have been able to use him at wide receiver or somehow on special teams or in goaline situations by running the option. Im sick over this transfer. I understand the Zach Frazier transfer becuase he did it in a professional matter.
He's a soph. But, clearly he has no class.
so he will be able to play his Junior and senior seasons?
IF he's released from his scholarship, yes. And he'd also be eligible for a fifth year.
Can we use that scholarship this year? Or do we have to wait?

I would love to see him not get released from scholarship, just to spite him. But, I don't think that makes any sense from a PR perspective. We need to get this kid out the door so fast it won't hit him on the way out.

Release him from the schollie and cut ties completely with him. Jones is 'me first,' and getting that attitude as far away from this team as possible is a good thing. Revenge always sounds good at first, but it never ends well. That said, I wouldn't mind scheduling Northern Illinois for opening day in a year or two.
The former Notre Dame quarterback will not be released from his scholarship, the school announced Tuesday.
"We don't believe that Demetrius' departure was handled appropriately," Notre Dame athletics director Kevin White said.
Jones made his decision to leave known by not showing for Notre Dame's bus to Michigan on Friday afternoon. He did, however, go to Northern Illinois' game against Eastern Michigan in DeKalb, Ill. on Saturday.
Jones told the South Bend Tribune he started classes Monday and Jones finally spoke to Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis late Monday evening.
"It was a cordial conversation," Weis said. "I wouldn't say aired it out but we cleared up what was going on and he said he's moved on and that's about it."
Weis said he wasn't involved in whether or not Jones was released from his scholarship. The decision is usually made between institutions and athletic directors.
Not sure how this scholorship thing works here. If ND denies DD his release from his schollie does that mean for the entire time he is at NIU he cannot recieve a scholorship since ND hasn't realeased him or is this all wiped clean once the school year ends?
I think there's no problem with him taking a scholarship from NIU for next year, just not for this one. A player can probably "release himself" once the season is over.
