He comes from a small community, maybe it works in our favor with ND being a small school. Then again, it could really work against us. I'd love to land him, but there is some very stiff competition. If he comes from a school of only 200, that is tiny, my graduating class in HS was 385, and at the time, we were the smallest class in our HS at that time.

I agree that it could go either way. My graduating class was all of 15 people (and we were one of the bigger classes of that and the 12 years prior). In making my college decision, there was certainly an allure of the huge state schools, being a young man who wanted to experience something different than what he had known. I ended up going a different route, but that certainly was an appeal to me. Other classmates, however, didn't feel at all comfortable in such environments and focused solely on small schools. It is hard to say anything about someone's preferences in such matters without a solid knowledge of that person's attitudes and personal makeup.

What? 15!!!!!! I was in class of about 500 and I thought my little brother and sister who went to different schools then I did was extremely small with classes being between 85 to 100. 15 just blows my mind.

would you truly be considered a 'playa' if you could claim to have done 50% of the chicks in your class...of 15%? Under normal circumstances, definitely, but 3-4? You be the judge.

btw, this young man is definitely intriguing. i wouldn't hold the small school or lesser competition against him. jason hart of scUM played at a tiny school in NY but dominated the competition (NYS all-time rushing leader) and showed the athletic skills needed to be a big time college back. if this young man has done the same at a level to satisfy the staff at ND, he could be an excellent pick up.

*Recruiting has obviously slowed down, as it had to due to the huge number of early commitments from some of the nation’s best. It appears that Etienne Sabino, Matt Patchan and Deion Walker are no longer options for the Irish, but shed no tears. All three are great student-athletes and very nice young men, but they do not play positions of dire need for the Irish in the class of 2008.

Deion really had no interest to begin with from what I understand. It was his initial visit a few weeks ago that spurred all of this. Lets hope he changes his mind.

Thanks for that. Silver may well know something we don't, but I haven't seen any reason to think that circumstances are quite THAT dire in the Sabino and Walker recruitments. But they may well be ...

Slim pickings for prom. Someone got left out

Pardon me while I veer away from this thread's stated purpose.

Its worse than you think. my class had 11 guys to 4 girls. Needless to say, there was a great deal of legwork done in surrounding communities.

That is all, please resume Walker conversations.

Not really much to talk about. As of late he doesn't seem all that high on ND, and unless they are lucky enough to get his 5th official visit then they are most likely out of it for Walker. They probably just joined the party a little too late on this one, which is why I'm guessing they decided to offer Harper.

I think some kids are sitting and waiting to see how ND pans out this year. Maybe in the end we might see some surprise guys if ND can show improvement throughout the course of the year with some young talent taking the field. ND is not winning a NC this year, but they sure can put on an exciting season with many glimmers of hope for the future.

Per DD, he had a really good visit to PSU (so good that he stayed to watch an extra practice), and he'll be coming back to the Valley for an official the weekend of their game against us. He's also taking an official to Condom Land.

Doesn't look good.

Good for us . When ND gets done kicking the crap out of Joe Pa and the kittens maybe he will be like wow ND can play some football I should play for them. I know some fans might say what makes you think ND will beat Penn St. and my answer is CW looks way to happy to have a bad team.

I know this isn't much different from what was posted earlier from the Silver article, but a GH poster says a "source" tells him that we're out of the running here. The attitude on DD seems to be the same.

Please, take this only FWIW.

There's a new (non-premium) Scout article where Deion has good things to say about pretty much everyone. Here's his take on ND, though:

Although he wasn't there in person, Walker said he did watch most of the Notre Dame loss to Georgia Tech. "It surprised me that they lost like that," Walker said. "But it showed that they need wide receivers and made me think that it might be a good place to be and do some things. They definitely tried to throw the ball, but are just having trouble moving it down the field. They will need receivers and their offense will only continue to get better."

More importantly: he will be an official visitor to PSU for next week's games, and looks like he'll probably visit FSU and USC as well. He says he is "considering" taking official visits to ND and Nebraska.

Most importantly:

"I really want to compare all the environments and see where I'll be able to fit into," he said. "I don't really have a preference for the type of campus or city or distance. I'd like to make a decision in early December because by then I'll have taken all my visits and seen all the schools I like. Right now, Penn State, Florida State and LSU have a slight lead."

Sorry, folks.

Sorry R19, but I think ND got in the game too late here and don't have much of a shot. Just read up a few posts.

Well that's good news if he is still able to make the visit when that game rolls around. Even though he doesn't consider ND to be in the top two it still indicates that he has at least some interest and ND is still in the game. You never know what'll happen if you can get a recruit on campus especailly for an official visit on gamedays.

Per ESPN, Walker has set an official visit to Free Shoes U. for 10/5. He has already taken an official to PSU (for the ND game), and it is "likely" that he'll visit SC as well. The other candidates in the running for his last two officials are Clemson, South Carolina, California, Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida, and LSU.

I know the navy game visit was aready mentioned but IrishEyes has it up in one of their headers. I wouldn't say we are out of it for him - he is one of those enigma kids who praises a bunch of schools. Him, Floyd, and/or Baldwin would all be great gets.
