I thought he had pretty good character, I think a poster earlier mentioned that he was at a party with a bunch of friends, but he didn't/doesn't drink. I think that takes a lot of courage and determination to do the right thing.

No inside info, but from just about everything that I seen or heard ND doesn't really have any chance at all.

I have to disagree goshengipper. My buddy at St. Peter's Prep spoke with Hill a few weeks ago. Will actually drove him home from a party, and yes it's true he doesn't drink. My buddy asked him about his recruitment. Will said in no order USC, ND, and Florida. I honestly see it coming down between Florida and ND. I think the fact that Charlie is a Jersey guy is good news but Meyer and his national championship are going to be tough to fight. BTW...IUB...my family makes enough money to put me and my sister through college. You're the father-in-law I've always prayed for.

We always appreciate the info, but there is so much incorrect info on the net these days that you have to take everything you read with a grain of salt. I'm somewhat giving you the benifit of the doubt otherwise I would have omitted the "just about" from this part of my post.

but from just about everything that I seen or heard ND doesn't really have any chance at all.

In this instance I'm not basing anything on what I read on the Internet. My buddy was in the same car as The Thrill and that's what he said. I'm just relaying the info, giving us Irish fans a little hope. This is not a no-shot for ND, but it will be a helluva challenge for Charlie and company

Well, I think he should come to ND, ND is a great place for good names. And Will's first name rhymes with his last, and his nickname (which is awesome) rhymes with both his first and his last. That alone requires him to come to ND.

I know you weren't. I was saying that's how the rest of us were recieving it. I'm not saying I don't believe you, or that you're full of crap. I'm just taking a wait and see approach without trying to get anyone's hopes up.

Maybe you could entertain us with a poem or two...?

The good thing is that Will never really says much recruiting wise to the sites so I think writing him off this early is not right. He's one of those wait till the last minute guys so I don't think it's a never gonna happen recruit. Bring this thread back when he schedules his official visits and then we'll know where we stand.

Some bad news on Hill as the infamous A.J. Alexander I want to play in a warm climate scenario has entered the Hill recruiting story. Hill's coach is quoted as saying that playing in a warm climate is one of the criteria he is looking for in a college team. Now at the same time he said it, he also said that Michigan would certainly be in his first cutdown of 9 or so schools, even though they don't meet that criteria. The warm weather thing is probably the reason why without any real explanation from the Hill camp that Florida and USC feel like they have the best shot at Hill. I would not be surprised to see ND make it through Hill's first cut down, but if you keep on hearing about the warm weather plans, then a lot of the schools potentially on that list, including ND, do not really stand a chance here.

Not writing him off by no means, especially since no one has heard anything directly from Hill, but "warm weather" was the death knell for ND for Alexander from the beginning as he was adamant about playing in the South. If Hill exhibits the warm weather bug as well, at least ND won't have to hold a schollie for him until NSD.

If he didn't come here I'd rather have him go to UF than USC. I don't like how USC can come into Jersey and take the top player when they want. Cushing, Jarrett. Maybe landing Beal AND Hill.

Looks like I get my wish. Not going to UM or USC, but Florida. Waiting for his moms final blessing so he can go ahead and commit to The ultimate douchebag Urban Liar. I'd expect it to become final this week.

Watch Urbie get too big for his britches and tell him he can't accept his commitment yet ...

LOL... like that'd ever happen with Will, but seriously I know right? I wish I had kept track of all the kids on his radar that took a nose dive in interest after having them as the favorites (nosedive a big red flashing sign that they talked about committing, but Urban said, "Not committable right now").

While I hate losing out on a talent on Will Hill, it shows us a bar this staff still has yet to reach.

They've done great things on the recruiting path, but on the most part, the elite level talent still goes to the teams that win BCS games. When we start winning those games, guys like Hill and Arthur Brown won't be such reaches.

It's great to see the progress that we've made, but Will Hill is still a reminder that we can move forward and do even more. I believe firmly that this staff can get us there, and that's when we'll start getting people like Hill.

Best of luck to him.

I disagree. Hill wanted to play somewhere warm, and that's why he went to UF. Jimmy Clausen and Kyle Rudolph are pretty damn elite if you ask me.

That's not to say that winning more games won't help us win more recruiting battles. But this seems to be a case where even if we hadn't disappointed last year, we'd still have been out of the running.

----Also Aldridge and Sam Young were 5 stars.

I'm not saying that we can't attract elite talent -- I'm saying that guys like Hill and Brown and Hale will be much more interested once we start winning BCS games.

The standard is high at ND, and the classes we're pulling in now are setting the bar to a pretty high standard -- but we can go above and beyond that standard once we start competing in BCS games.

Just let Charlie and Brown recruit who THEY want. Not who WE want. Sure we want every 5 star player to commit...but who says a 3 or 4 star commit wont be above the 5 star players in college? Its all about coaching and team chemistry. but talent helps majorly and we have it now.

I do see what you're saying. Its the difference between being a perennial threat for a top 10 recruiting class, and a top 3 haul year in and year out. As for on the field, its the difference between having your down years as "reloading" years (wasn't OSU supposed to do that on defense last year? Yeah, thought I heard that during a title game preview... if you catch my drift) and the rebuilding project we're looking at this year (8 starters on offense, about half the starters on defense, plus a new scheme because of how lackluster Minter's defense was).

We're doing great, but we aren't doing it quite like USC yet. Still work to be done.

Wow!! I can't believe that people are still not satisfied!! I'm not going to pout over spilt milk, because we can't get them all. CW & CB are putting together a monster class, last time I checked everyone was saying Ethan Johnson was elite talent. Now that we have him, we can't get elite talent.

---Good point I just think everyone is striving for what USC does. Now that we have shown we can recruit verrrry highly on both sides of the ball ND people get antsy and say "We want more!" so the next step is acheiving 5 or more Rivals 5*'s and becoming recruiting Gods.

People may want to strive to match what USCless does in recruiting every year. We are on the right track, but we have to remember that this is the first time under Weiss that we have done this good in recruiting. Just trying to inject a little reality here. Until we can pull this much talent on a year in and year out basis, we need to be guarded with our optimism. Don't get me wrong I think that we are well on our way to something special here, but as my pappy used to say, "don't count your eggs until they have hatched!" Furthermore, I will admit that I am a huge "homer" where ND is concerned, but I also know that recruiting fortunes can turn on a dime....just look at last our signing day this year. But I believe that the root has taken hold!!!!
