He's not a silent commit anywhere thats 100% fact, and he is 100% going to be in South Bend on Wed. with Anthony McDonald

Maybe i will see them bc i will be there from wednesday to saturday. Thatd be cool. Id interrogate them and convince them to go to ND.

There is no reason not to take a QB this year. Why leave a 1 year gap at the most critical position on the field that can hurt you down the road. Crist has indicated a willingness to take 5 years to use up his 4 years of eligibilty, which means that even if JC becomes the starter this year, and starts for the next 4 years, Crist, if he is good enough, would be in position to be the ND starting QB for the entire 3rd & 4th year of his eligibility.

According to Scout article today (free), Dayne Crist will be deciding in the next few weeks. He claims no favorite, but says the 5 teams that he will choose from are:

ND/USC/Stanford/LSU/Michigan

Only school that he hasn't visited is Michigan. The article cites positives about all of the schools except LSU (but that could be an editing thing).

3 top decision drivers:
-Academics
-Working with a coach who will help him develop
-Being around great players

Hopefully A Mac can convince him of the ND merits over the next couple of weeks.....

I predict it'll be down to ND/USC/LSU.....i don't think he'd be ready 2 take such a chance on Stanford...and he didnt mention an upcoming visit to Michigan so I'd assume if he wanted to commit there he would've visited....who knows maybe McDonald can dry hump him to and from school about ND haha i know it's wrong

I have no insight into this, but I suspect that LSU is not in the mix as strongly as ND and USC.

And yeah, the 'other comment' is probably inappropriate for the recruiting thread.....

If its down to USC and ND, he obviously cares little about competition. With Big Mac aboard, I think advantage: ND.

I agree.... its between ND and USC

Mcdonald will be a big help for us. I anticipate a ND commitment

I would have to agree about scUM not really being in it. If he wanted to go there, then he would have stopped by to see the campus and not spend all that time at ND. I would think it would be down to USC/ND/Stanford. I would not count out Stanford because of academics being important to him.

It seems like we are stockpiling certian positions. QB, TE & RB. All of Weis's offensive weapons. I'd love to load up on d line and linebackers. It looks like we're getting a good start with the linebacker part. Filer would be a nice additional inside guy, and I guess we still need some outside guys.

Thus far this year, four of our six commits are at DL and LB, and only one at the positions you mention ...

That is a bit off. 3 of the 6 are at DL and LB (Cwynar, McDonald, Posluszny). Cave and Golic are OL, Rudolph TE and Goodman WR.

And just remember, last year Clausen couldn't get Marc Tyler to go to ND. I still like Crist's odds of being Irish after what he has said in interviews, but I don't know that McDonald makes it a lock.

Is it for sure that Cave will be playing OL? He is also listed at DL. Assuming his position is indeed up in the air, that does make four of five who play in the defensive front seven. But again, maybe I'm missing something.

I think Cave mentioned he was going to be playing the interior O line at ND, but still was encouraged to play defense his sr. year, i see him as a beastly center (he also mentioned how Weis told him he could come in and compete for the starting spot at center because of Sullivan graduating, but i think that is unlikely seeing how high they are on Wenger.)

Gallup21 is going to be in South Bend and the early info that he will get on Crist's decision he won't be able to post it early. He said he's going to announce on a local TV show so thats mean's his announcement will be in California.

Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame quarterback Dayne Crist, the top signal-caller in the West, will announce his decision this week.

"I'm announcing my decision on FSN at 10:30 p.m. (PST)," said Crist.

Crist said he would be choosing from five schools: LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford and USC.

Okay - I stand corrected, then. But my basic point is still valid: three of our six commits are in the defensive front seven, and still only one at QB/RB/TE.

Per Scout he had such a great time last week it seems hard to believe he isn't Irish .
