Crist is concerned about playing time, and that would give LSU the edge here.
With Flynn and Perriloux ahead of him on the depth chart if he goes to LSU?
I'm not saying it's a worse situation than ND's, but it's not the best of situations if he wants playing time either.
I agree to a certain extent but Flynn and Perriloux at least potentially are not Jimmy Clausen, and then there is Jones and Frazer to contend with as well.
Crist & McDonald still talk about going to college together, and ND was the first school to offer both. Since then only Oregon has also offered both, and neither Crist nor McDonald seem to have any interest in Oregon. Crist is definitely still a solid possibility for ND, as he does not seem to be bothered by the QB depth of the Irish. It should be interesting to see what he has to say about the Stanford trip, as based on his brief comments about LSU, a school like Stanford may end up being more competition for ND than LSU or Michigan.
With all the talk about this guy having 5* ability, but a raw ability, I think Weis could be one of the few coaches in the college game that could harness his ability as a QB.
Some other guys like Tedford come to mind, but Weis definitely is up there. The Poodle seems to get more polished guys -- Sanchez and Booty both came to LA as studs.
I really, really want Crist, regardless of depth.
Absolutely correct. Before he visited LSU, Crist mentioned that it would not bother him to redshirt his freshman year. That alone would put him 2 years behind JC, and if JC left after his Junior year because he had already graduated, Crist would still have three years of eligibility left with a redshirt.
this is assuming that JC wins the QB battle this year right? Either way I think Crist is an "almost must get" kind of guy because we don't know whats going to happen as far as people leaving and what not after this year. I meab you figure if Sharpley doesn't win the starting spot this year he might just go baseball. I figure we lose someone after this year at the QB spot.
How were his comments about the LSU spring game

Here's a free article about it: Dayne Crist gets USC offer
A buddy of mine who's close to the USC program is saying that NDHS people are telling everyone Crist is a Trojan.
BUT
My buddy doesn't really believe that, because if somebody's silently committed, he knows about it. The guy knew about Joe McKnight before anyone else, so take that FWIW.
IUB
I thought the Poodle encouraged his recruits to take their visits even if committed to USC?
