Every time I see his name I think "Ogie Oglethorpe". If he hits like Ogie, I'll take him at LB.

Nice move on listing "the entire Mac" in offer list

It pains me to do so as I started out a Redskin but the MAC, C-USA and Sunbelt cause a lot of unneeded typing. I'll give some of the AAC and MWC some love but the others are just outside the bounds of relevancy when it comes to ND recruiting.

Considering how he's lacking a lot of big offers, I can see why we're at the top. But he is an '18 so maybe he blows up?

He's also really thin, and needs to get a little thicker before the big boys come a calling in a big way.

“I’m going to get back up there at the end of July or maybe early August,” said Oghoufo of Notre Dame. “I just want to check out the beautiful atmosphere again. I want to get my parents up there, so this will be their first visit.”

“Coach Gilmore and I have a really good relationship,” said Oghoufo. “We’re both from Detroit. We have a lot in common. He knows my coaches. We have a great bond.

“I worked with coach Elston at camp,” added Oghoufo. “We had a chance to work on the different schemes and where they see me. I really like coach Elston. He’s definitely a coach that will improve a player and teach them to become a man.”

“He’s practically my brother,” said Oghoufo of Kareem. “I spent basically the whole day with him when I went up there. We reunited. It was a great time with him. When we talked, he told me that if I go to Notre Dame, it’s a 40-year decision, not just a four-year decision. He says the caches are the best and the opportunities are great.”

“Honestly, I think right now, it’s between Notre Dame and Michigan State and kind of Michigan,” said Oghoufo. “It’s really just those two though, Notre Dame and Michigan State.”

“I like the coaches. All of the coaches,” said Oghoufo of Michigan State. “I’ve been recruited by Michigan State for about a year now. I have a strong bond with them. I’ve been to campus a whole bunch of times. I like the coaches and how they treat me. I also have some friends on the team.”

has to be a no brainer. Kid's HC is Khalid Kareem's old man.

Harrison's HC is an older guy who has won 10-15 state championships. Kareem's dad is involved in HS football, maybe at Harrison, don't remember.

FYI, I read a while back they are closing Harrison HS. Not sure when but he may end up playing somewhere else his senior year

I'll look into it.

Apologies the HC is John Herrington, won 13 state titles in his reign. Kareem's dad is on staff at Detroit Central Collegiate Academy.

yeah FHH is closing after this year. Bizarre decision as it's the newest school with best facilities of the 3 existing area high schools.

School wont' close til after 2018 though so it wont affect Ovie. Students in the grad class of 2019 will be split between Farmington High or North Farmington for their senior years

Just watched his film. Looks 6'3. Really long, especially long arms. Seems to read the play well and has good speed and effective tackling ability. Could definitely see him as a stud WLB some day. Really hope we get him.

I really hope he commits this weekend. I could see him growing into a WDE

This.

ND is in a good place with few '18 OLB's already and surprisingly, only 6 of the Top 20 247 Comp OLB's are from the SEC country or TX and the FL kids are in Miami and at IMG where ND does ok. A lot of kids in ND's recruiting footprints in '18.

... and 3 solid prospects in Indy that are under the national radar for the moment w/ two of them at Cathedral in Hugh Davis and Jackson Barrow.

This is great news. I almost consider Indy Cathedral kids a lock at ND. Not to mention our history with the school and its location, we have Stepp there and he has all ready proven to be a good recruiter for us. '18 is all ready shaping up to be dynamic. Starting off your class with a 5 star QB doesn't hurt. The way we've been constantly reeling in top classes, our current class we are still working on and '18 being what it is all ready, and also filling in our team NEEDS in relation to positional needs, makes me very very excited, proud and confident that we have a great chance of being in the Playoff discussion every year. Reminds me of Daelin Hayes

Totally. He has flashes of that "freakish" athletisicm, burst, quickness that you see from elite LB's. I'm not saying his is nearly as good as Jaylon was but watching his film and given that he is almost EXACTLY the size Jaylon was at that age and his super long arms and the way he tackles, getting two hands full and swinging/slamming the ball carrier to the ground, it totally reminded me of Jaylon and THAT is a gooooood thing
