Arike trey

Allen deuce

Mich scoops up the ball at midcourt, threw long pass high to Turner underneath who catches it and as she's going out of bounds flips it back to a trailing Cable, who catches it knee high in the lane and scoops it up for the layup and fouled. Cable sinks the FT for 3 pt play.

Cable 25 pts matching career high. 8-12, 2-5, 7-7, 7 rebs, and assist and a steal.

This probably seems a strange thing to say, but I believe that Coach will be very disappointed with this game. This was a chance to see if she could depend upon anyone else but her three stars and her fourth good player. She didn't get good basketball out of anyone else.

Kate was her usual soft self, even on soft passing. The two rookies were out of control offensively most of the time in the first half, even when Coach left Lindsay, Maddy, and Brianna in there with them to try to stabilize them. Hannah WOULD have been good but she got too many fouls. Michael Johnson had very good hustle and team play, but doesn't seem to be able to score at all. The bench bigs are "projects" at best and seat occupiers in reality. I believe that Muffet hoped that Marina and Arike would show some sensible mature play when in with the three great players, but Muffet ended up benching them again [talking about the first half when the thing resembled a game.]

We're going to need the two kids in the tournament, but they aren't ready yet. If I had to play the tournament now, the first player off my bench is Huffman regardless of position, and it's not close.

On the bright side, love you Maddy. What a game. Perhaps lost under the point explosion was her essentially stopping Dominique Wilson, the NCState star. Lindsay and Brianna deserve all the accolades we can give them too, but Maddy was Baroness of Basketball tonight.

If the "probability" stuff is due to computer, then it's no surprise to me --- programs "honor" home court usually quite a bit, especially in basketball.

If the "probability" stuff has a freewill human emphasis, then that human element [if non-fan-biased] would have to be taking into account how thin we are as to our super-players not getting into foul trouble, and our bombers not shooting well. The idea that a team which scores in the low seventies per game is going to score big against us, seems not likely statistically. {I'm noting that the scoring range for them went up to 89 points.}

Nevertheless, the real bottom line is that in basketball no one knows squat about how a game is going to go. Let's just hope that the girls play smart and disciplined BBall. We know that they'll play hard.
